New build, Maximus IV Extreme issues... in dire need of solutions please

So here's my set up currently:

i7 2600k
Corsair 16GB Vengeance LP
Asus Xonar DX
Thermaltake Frio
Thermaltake Toughpower XT Platinum 1275 W
BFG 8800 GTS 512s in SLI*

*(Yes I know, need an upgrade but now waiting on the new cards before I make my move, was going to get dual Matrix 580s but at this point rather wait a small bit)

So first off I've attempted to use the CD to update all the drivers and it makes the system blue screen and not be able to load to Windows.

Secondly, I've attempted to update the BIOS but it kept saying "not an EFI Bios" though after reaing a few things think that issue may have occurred due to the flash drive being formatted as NTFS and not FAT32.

The biggest issue I am currently having is I am unable to get either ethernet port to work. I even have a Belkin Wireless N that I installed the drivers for and it doesn't do anything. The only thing the board detects is the onboard bluetooth and that obviously isn't getting me online any time soon.

Any suggestions as to how to handle this?

Start fresh.
format usb stick to fat32 and upgrade the uefi(not in zip format.
Set defaults and then install windows
Get updated drivers if you can rather than using the ones on the cd

^good advice

You can also try sticking the drivers on your USB flash drive from another computer if that's an option.

I'm having an issue with this board as well. It recognizes 16gb of ram but windows is only accepting 6.66gb in Windows. Please help!

Ram not being picked up can be because of a number of factors.

First I would first make sure my ram sticks are correctly mounted. Then I would check and see that my CPU is seated perfectly in the socket and finally that my cooler is correctly fastened and not unbalanced.

OP

The best plan is the start fresh. Download the latest bios and ensure your USB stick is fat32 formatted. EazyFlas 2 from the bios screen and you are good to go.

When you boot back into bios select F5 and install windows in the fail safe default bios settings.

Once that is done, install your Intel drivers (you can download them directly before hand) and once rebooted use the latest NIC drives from the motherboard support page for your network port.

That should pretty much do the trick. 🙂 I hope.

I am running 64 bit, but I found this post on a windows forum saying if you used MSCONFIG to adjust the amount of startup ram it disables it.
So I just selected normal boot up, removed the startup programs I didn't need and bam, 16gb usable 😄

Thanks for the help too!

Any particular applications that you removed from the start menu that where such resource hogs. I would be really keen to find out which one was the cause.

Pleased that you have it sorted, mate.

Cheers.

It wasn't even the startup programs. Clean install. But when you go to boot up/ advanced options, there are 2 tick boxes, one for how many processor cores, and one for maximum memory. IF you select maximum memory or any amount of memory, it will
disable it from standard use so windows can use that base memory just for booting the pc.
I noticed absolutely NO startup speed difference when I took it off but now that I've got 16gb usable RAM I'm nice n speedy
