The RAM should still work fine, they are both DDR3. I think the issue you are having is you have a Z68 Motherboard and you are running a new Ivy Bridge processor. They are compatible but you need to update the bios to run the new CPU. Unfortunately I think on your motherboard you will need to install a sandy bridge processor in order to update the BIOS.

ok i just spent a load of money and its now been 2 days i cant get my new system to work 😕
let me start with parts i ordered...
1 x Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz Socket 1155 8MB Cache Retail OEM Processor
1 x Corsair Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
1 x Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Z68 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio EATX Motherboard
1 x G-Skill 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz RipjawsZ X79 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V
I`had to send the RAM back due to an error while ordering and i got a quad channel Mem sticks for a socket 2011 Z77.
i1ve now spent more money on new set of Mem sticks only to find out they are NOT supported either
2x Kingston HyperX 8GB KIT 1600mhz (KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX)
which i will need to take it back to shop 😞
can someone suggest a GOOD WORKING COMPATIBLE RAM ?
I cant even load to bios at the moment ...
im expecting i will need to flash the bios due to the CPU i have sloted?
and how do i do this ?
i tried to use ROG via USB at back but nothing happens ...
im lost now and about to refit my old system and send it all back

Your 3770k cpu is not supported by your board without a 3### series bios, plese follow my "flashback procedure posted several times on here, and it is always best not to mix ram kits,so i dont see your problem is ram,it's the cpu not being supported.Flashback procedure is here.
