New BSOD Error

Switchblade
Level 7
Hey guys,

Some of you already know I'm running a new FX chip. Everything seemed to be going fine until this.

I tried to load Portal 2 up and I get the following error during the Portal 2 loading screen:

3615

I'm not sure what that error means however I think it might be something to do with Ram.

Also note that ever since I got that error, my system seems to be unstable. I've not had a BSOD error other than that in Windows, however I have had one time my computer just decided to shut everything down, and restart itself like a normal windows process.

Any idea what could be the problem? My initial thought is RAM but after reading my error again, is it a CPU issue?

Thanks!

usually clock interrupt errors happen on cpus that are overclocked past their stable limit.
is your cpu overclocked ?

Hey there,

I haven't even attempted to overclock yet. Everything is on it's default settings.

I've run two stress tests for 20 minutes each (I know not long) just to see if I can get the error to come up again or something, but it never happened. I will be running longer tests today though.

Also I am on BIOS 0813 right now. I was on 9911 earlier when the crash first happened. I went into BIOS to check settings to see if anything weird was going on but the only thing I saw was that my memory was at 1.6 volts which was not correct. I couldn't change this value either and it would of been running at 1.6 volts for 2 - 3 hours. I flashed the BIOS back to 0813 which is what I'm running now. The Ram voltage was back to 1.5 where it should be, but I still get the same crash only when running Portal 2.

Thanks!

If your memory is rated at 1.50v, you will need to bump it up to around 1.5250v.

All memory modules that I've run/tetsed on this board need the extra DRAM voltage to run stable above stock.

Well like I said before, I got this SAME error when they were running at 1.6 Volts too because the BIOS set it at that on the 9911. That's when the crash first happened to me.

Going back to the 0813 the BIOS put it to 1.5 Volts but still same crash when loading Portal 2 and only Portal 2.

Also I want to mention I haven't done any of the tweaks or any quick setup guides shown in these forums. I'm basically running completely stock.

Hi everyone.
Attempt have a look on http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

the ram voltage running @ 1.60v is nothing to be worried about. Set it to whatever its rated at and do me a favor... your running a Corsair H80 Liquid Cooling system?

I'm not that familiar with how the block mounts against the cpu but try loosening the mount screws 1/2 a turn... I was getting bsod like crazy and it was due to to much pressure on the cpu. I use a heat killer water block and I need to use a digital caliper to measure the mounting pressure.. they call for 18.1mm but on this new board its to much.

On my Crosshair 4 forumla it was fine but not this one.

Anyways its not the bios giving you the problem. Its portal2 that's the problem. Wait till Steam have a fix or microsoft to release a KB fix. I understand AMD and MS are working closely to fix some of the bugs that plague you early FX adopters.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

Steam Support responded today, and it is a known issue with Portal 2 and the AMD FX processors, so don't sweat it.

I know I'm pissed that I can't play Portal 2, but at least our processors aren't bad.

Hey Fullinfusion,

I will loosen up the cooler on the CPU just a tad when I get my second 560 TI in a few hours. Just awaiting for it to arrive in the mail.

Yanno just thinking about that, this just came to mind since I was talking about graphics. I have had my Nvidia Drivers crash and restart itself twice so far, usually shortly after start up. Never thought anything about it until just now but maybe that might indicate another problem?

And also if I can't get the system to crash on anything else other than when trying to load Portal 2, then that is probably a good thing and more software related? It hasn't happened on anything else *knock on wood*

Thanks
