wow, how the heck did you make that out from that word mush.

Respect! And hmm.. my overclock is 3930k @ 46x104.2 and it works flawlessly. Did prime for 12hours and neither 3d mark nor catzilla seem to suffer from what I've seen so far.

4206 is the latest bios for SB-E processors after 4206 the bios's are optimized for IV-E processors. what he is saying is the newer bios for IV-E doesn't play nice with SB-E processors and the turbo mode while overclocking may not go past 4.2 GHZ when you have it set higher than 4.2 in the bios, which bios is best for you may be 4206 or 1404 or another version we can not tell you for sure. Some early bios versions were better with some types of memory modules, in my personal experience 4206 is a very good bios for 3930K or SB-E processors, 4901 is very good with a 4930K or IV-E processors but your experience may be different. You can flash back to an earlier bios on the RIVE using a USB stick and bios flash back method by renaming the bios file to ERALL so all is not lost if a new bios does not work well for your particular system

Thanks for explaining that.

What BIOS version are you using? I might try 4206 if it's the latest/last one geared towards SB-E processors. I used to have a 4.5Ghz Off-set overclock on my 3930K, but have gone back to stock setting for the last 8 months or so, as BIOS 3206 didn't seem to work with my previous settings which were pretty rock solid on 1404.

I am using 4206 and have been for quite a while now modded with the latest CPU code and OROM's using UBU without any issues.

golddubby, you got a fine overclock on your system, in my opinion 4.6 24/7 is a real sweet spot on a 3930K.

I'm the type who has to install the latest bios which usually end in me reverting to 4208 but FINALLY my impulsive bios updating payed off. I know there is no hint of any USB fixes in the changelog but since I've owned this board my Logitech keyboard/G13 have had intermittent issues being detected either at boot up or even having to close/open Logitech gaming software to get detected in either the USB2 or 3 ports. After many many many boots (maybe 100+?) I have not had a single issue with my keyboard/gamepad since upgrading to 4901. I'm able to break 4.6 on my 3930 24h Prime stable which I was unable to do on 4208. Thumbs up to this bios just in time for me to replace with the X99 I guess =p

I thought that there was some sort of BIOS bug if using a newer BIOS than 4208 with 3xxx series CPUs? I thought that you couldn't overclock past 4.2Ghz with the newer BIOS on the 3xxx CPUs?

btw, what MB do you have?

I've got the Rampage 4 Formula. I want to update the BIOS, just don't know which one to choose. I was about set to update to 4208 today, but I thought that I would come and check this thread first. Now I'm not sure if I should try this new BIOS instead on my 3930K.

Can anyone else confirm if that bug with 3xxx processors still exists on 4901.

I think I am going to try 4901 on my 3930K.

Also, if that BIOS isn't too good for me, how do I flashback to an earlier BIOS? Do I use the USB BIOS flash back method rather than EZ Flash?

Yes you use the usb flashback method, rename your earlier bios to ERALL. either cap or rom whichever it is and flash back to an earlier bios

Thanks. I thought ERALL is if you were going back to the .ROM BIOS? Can you actually go back to the older .ROM BIOS if you've already converted it to .CAP?

Also, Is "ERALL.cap" case sensitive?
