I've updated my Bios to 2801, but i have problem with bclk frequency, in particular under load..

On x264 benchmark, Bus speed oscillates from 94.x Mhz to 99.x MHz. This causes cpu frequency goes back under 4.6GHz when it should be fixed at 4.8GHz. I reloaded bios default settings with no luck.

Going back to 2702 the issue is gone with bclk broadly stable at 99.9MHz.

Any feedback about that?

PS: Maximus VII Hero + i7 4790k

No i don't have any problems like you described. Try setting everything to default and try again on stock setting to see if the problem persists.

Ok i got that there's the same issue with 2702. So i have flashed the 2801 again, started Windows touching no options and checked the bus clock: it worked normally. At this point i started activating features and i found the problem: Intel Virtualization Technology. Activating it causes the issue.

I really don't know why I haven't noticed it before. Anyway I start thinking this is not necessarily bios related but some kind of conflict with Windows 10 or Hyper-V, but I'm not sure, i have to investigate. Any ideas?

Well if you don't use IVT then you can just leave it off but i really don't know why it would interfere with Bus Speed.

Maybe disable Spread Spectrum and SVID Support? Because 4.8 GHz is very high overclock. The standard BIOS settings are questionable.

I know this thread is older but don't forget your bios settings are mostly lost. So don't forget to enable dynamic rapid storage for your ssd's in the bios
