Hello everyone. This pc is my first build. I am having trouble getting to a POST screen. Here are my specs:
ASUS Socket AM3/AMD 890FX/CrossFireX/SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0/A and GbE/ATX Motherboard Crosshair IV Formula
AMD FX-8150 FX 8-Core Black Edition Processor Socket AM3+ - FD8150FRGUBOX
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX 12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply - CMPSU-750TXV2
Corsair Hydro Series H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CWCH80)
Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB Desktop Hard Drive WD20EARX
Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7970 OC 3GB GDDR5 DVI-I/HDMI/2x Mini-Displayport PCI-E 3.0 Graphics Card GV-R797OC-3GD
G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1333MHz (PC3-10666) 240-Pin. Desktop Memory F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL
Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Full Tower Case with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (RC-932-KKN5-GP)

So what happens is, I press the power button on the case and the red cpu light stays a solid red color (the light by the 24 pin connecter). This indicates that it is a cpu problem from what I understand. The fans spin, video card spins, I don't have the hard drive hooked up at the moment or the optical. I'm not really sure what else to do. Tomorrow I will try refitting my cpu and see what happens. I've also read somewhere that the bios has to be updated or something if my cpu doesn't match with it initially? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Indeed, you most cretainly do need to update your BIOS for it to run with your CPU. You can use the ROG Connect to connect it to the pc/laptop you are currently posting here from and update it that way...instructions are in the manual 🙂

Thank you for the response! I spoke to someone with asus support and i explained to him what I thought was the problem but he totally ignored me and said i had to check if my ram was compatible with the board. Here is a link of compatibility: http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=345 . I do not see my board on that list so I think I messed up. 😞 If it wasn't compatible, wouldn't the dram light on the mobo be going red? Thanks for the help!

Hey guys! Here's an update. I spent a little while talking to a few different guys from asus motherboard support and here's what they are going to do. Basically since I have a fx 8150 cpu, my bios is outdated and they are sending me a bios chip with a 3027 beta version of bios stuff! heres a link: http://support.asus.com/Cpusupport/detail.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=Crosshair%20IV%20Formula&cpu=FX-81...
Hopefully when I get it next week this baby's gonna work! I'm still concerned about my ram not working though, lol. If anybody could help me verify that my ram will work it would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys. My new bios chip came in the mail. I removed the old one and put in he new one. Pc took about 20 seconds to run smooth once I powered up. Everything works great now. Thanks for the help!
