Need help recovering with BOOT_LED lit

I was setting up my new mobo and SSD last night. I had everything running, gone through all the windows updates, after reading some forum posts I decided to update the bios software. I used the OS utility to download and flash the bios. While in the utility I also changed the bios picture. I tried to update to BIOS version 1402. Everything seemed to work ok. The utility gave no errors. I rebooted my computer and now when it goes through POST it says "no devices detected" and then sits at the screen prompting me to hit F1 to recover BIOS setup. The BOOT_DEVICE_LED is also on. There is no response to pressing F1 it is stalled at this screen.

I have tried C.P.R, clear the CMOS and removing the battery. Next steps?

I'd really like to get this resolved today so I can finish installing GW2 before the launch 🙂

I must not of explain my problem very well. I cannot even get to the OS. It stalls at the screen "Press F1 to enter setup". Thanks for the effort.

What you need to do is set the device in BIOS that has your OS. If you have more than one partition or hard drive select the OS drive.

I'm not sure how I can do that when I cannot get to the settings. The mobo is frozen/stalled/stuck at the POST message screen. Pressing F1 to go to setup up is not advancing the system.

I hear you.

Pull everything from your motherboard. The works all of it.
Now all you have is a motherboard on a box, no PSU connectors attached.
Remove the battery
Toggle the clear CMOS (bridge it out)
Let the board sit for 30 mins

One stick of ram.
Keyboard and mouse
OS SSD
VGA

Nothing else - now power up.

Wow do I feel stupid...

As I was putting it back together to power up after the 30 min CD, I decided to try a different keyboard. Apparently the system just was not getting the signal from my wireless one and pressing F1 was not registered. I am able to boot up to OS now 🙂

However, I'm still getting the "no devices connected" error at POST.

All good that you can now get into BIOS.

What you need to do is ensure that A) your SSD is connected correctly via the SATA cable and the power connector is seated as it should be, and B) that once you are in BOIS that the SSD with your OS is being picked up.

Once you have done that then we are good to go for the next step.

Set your SATA mode to AHCI as per normal (think it is default for your board) and what ever other settings you change. Then F10 enter to save settings and reboot.

Now let the system run for a bit and then F8 to select your boot medium.

Here is how you get rid of the "No Devices" Message, it's not an error just stating that there is nothing connected into a specific SATA Port on your Mobo...namely the ASMedia SATA Port(it's the solo one below the main bank of 6 SATA III Ports)

1. Get into BIOS
2. Click on "Advanced"
3. Click "Onboard Devices"
4. You will see "ASM1061 Storage Controller" click "Disable"
5. Hit F10 to save then reboot
6. Enjoy faster boot times and your new system 🙂

Cheers
