Very interesting - M4EZ bios 0706 was released on 10/10/11, but was pulled by ASUS very shortly after that --- but, no matter ...

Your M4EZ is shipped with a Sandy Bridge CPU bios ...
... you will need to use the USB Bios Flashback feature to update to a 3xxx Series Bios version (3203) for your Ivy Bridge i5-3570K CPU to work.
http://support.asus.com/Cpusupport/List.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Maximus%20IV%20Extreme-Z&p=1&s=39&hashed...

Download bios 3203 from the ASUS M4EZ download page / Bios Tab ...
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/Maximus_IV_ExtremeZ/#download

... extract & then copy the 3203 ROM file to an empty Fat32 USB 2.0 stick - then rename the 3203 ROM file on the USB stick to M4EZ.ROM .

Now refer to diagram "2.3.10 Rear panel connection" in the M4EZ manual :

With your machine powered off, plug the USB 2.0 stick into the ROG Connect port (#12) in the rear panel ...
... then push the ROG Connect switch/button (#11) until the switch starts flashing (the Bios Chip #1 LED on the board will be flashing as well) ...
It will take about 2 to 3 to 4 minutes; or so; for the flash to complete - the ROG switch & the Bios Chip LED will stop flashing when complete ...
... then remove the USB Stick from the ROG Connect port, & power on the machine.

Under no circumstance should you interrupt this "re-start to re-set" process of the bios update ...
... the machine will run through 2 boot cycles, & may even power off & power back on, before it brings you to the F1 Screen.
AGAIN - DO NOT INTERRUPT this "re-start to re-set" process !!! ... let the machine run through the "re-set" process completely.

Then F1 into Bios, & on the Main Page of the Advanced Mode, you should see that your bios version is now 3203 ...
... & you, & your M4EZ / i5-3570K should be good to go ...

btw - when on the Main Page of the Advanced Mode in the Bios, please take note of the ME Version ...

Your shipping bios indicates that it will not be compatible with your CPU.

You will need to flash to a support bios first for your CPU to work. Do not flash straight to the latest bios. Please.

Try the very first compatible bios. You can blind flash to do this. There is a guide in your user manual.

How do I flash it to a support bios? 😕 Sorry for being so naive, but i haven't been working with this stuff very long and the manual confuses me. IIt doesn't help that I still have nothing showing up on the screen. The monitor works, but I'm not getting any connection. The graphics card is plugged into the native pci slot.

In the manual there is a section on how to flash your BIOS using a fat formatted USB stick connected to the ROG connect USB port.

Follow that guide and you will be fine. But again only flash to the very first BIOS that was compatible to your CPU.

So I would need a bootable USB drive? I have BIOS 3203 downloaded onto my usb drive. Having the wrong BIOS wouldn't stop me from getting video would it? I haven't gotten any picture to show up on the screen yet. I know the screen is good, I've used it with my laptop. I'm making a video so you can see what it's doing and how things are hooked up. 🙂

Well, I can't make a video with a broken camera. I'm thinking there's something wrong with the hardware on the mobo. Because all of my components work on my old motherboard.

lol after that detailed description i was able to get everything to work wonderfully ^_^ I wish I could pay you guys for spending time on this, I've probably spent 1 1/2 months trying to get this to work. I had torn everything down and put it in boxes and decided to try one last time today. 😃 It finally works and everything works wonderfully.
