My first build, am I doing things correctly

Just built my first PC over the weekend with an i7-4770k and Corsair H100i. I went ahead and replaced the stock H100i fans withNoctua fans and based on some reading I did here, instead of plugging them into the Corsair unit, I plugged the fans into the CPU fan and CPU OPT headers. However, I received a CPU fan error and to get rid of it I went into the BIOS and reduced the CPU fan limit down to 200 rpm.

Being new to building PCs, I just want to make sure that I'm not risking putting my CPU under too much heat. I assume that the Asus fan xpert software will optimize the fans correctly and make sure that the CPU temp stays in the "normal" range. I also replaced the other stock fans in my case with Noctua fans. I was really trying to build something that would stay cool enough to allow me to try and overclock the CPU.

So is there any issue with how I've set up the H100i fans and what kind of temps should I be seeing with stock CPU settings? I'd like to try overclocking but just want to make sure that I have everything set up correctly before starting.

Thanks

Setting the fan speed in Bios and setting the fan speed warning in threshold in Bios are 2 different things.

I would have the fans faster than 200rpm as they will still be quiet, I am thinking you mean you told it not to warn you till 200rpm.

You are correct, I changed the warning limit.

Great, thanks. So am I correct in assuming that the fans will now be controlled correctly using fan xpert? Or is there anything else I should change in the BIOS?

P.S. I swopped out a Gigabyte board (Z87MX-D3H) for this motherboard (because Crossfire failed on the Gigabyte) and the difference is amazing.

The sound is crystal clear by comparison. The Crossfire works, as it should. The Memory auto-adjusts to its stock 2133, and the Intel Extreme utility took it from a score of 745 on the Gigabyte board to 795 on this one with no adjustments.

Its a keeper. 😮

hi
if your fan connectors are 3 pin you need to set in bios cpu fan to adaptive to stop the fan error
