MVF Q Code A2

Hello everyone,

My new build:
MVF
Intel i5 3570K
2x4 GB G.Skill 2400 Mhz Trident Memory
Corsair H100i CPU cooler
Gigabyte 7970 Ghz.
Seasonic Platinum 860w
2 x Kingston 120 GB 3k X SSD

I was having a Q Code "AE" issue and I flashed the bios following the instructions in the User Guide for the EZ Flash 2. Let it load the BIOS and reset. Then I powered down, unplugged the power cord, held the Clear CMOS button and powered on and this is what I got.

17827

Along with a Q-Code A2 now. I don't understand why the CPU Fan error is coming up. The Corsair H100i has its fans running and everything. Any help would be appreciated, just trying to get this thing running so I can instal windows and have fun.

Edit: Thought a picture of the system may be useful. 17828

Hi JTTRI,You have to go to your Fan monitor and set thresholds for Alarms in Temps and Revs.
After Clearing CMOS, it goes to default values which gives error if it detects CPU Fan revs, under 600 rpm.
Enjoy.

Hey Nikosa43! Is this in monitor in the bios? Also, what should I switch it to then? Off standard?

Edit: The CPU Monitor in BIOS says my CPU temp is jumping around but it has hit 84 degree's celsius. A bit worried how it could reach that high if I am just in BIOS and for all apparent reasons it seems the Corsair H100i is working...

Edit 2: I take that back the Corsair H100i fans are running fine but the corsair LED over the CPU is no longer glowing...

If in BIOS you read 84 you have to shut down ASAP. Something wrong is going on with your cooler. Remove it and resit it. When you remove check how Thermal paste is spread or if you forgot anything in between. Also is your pump connected to power?

Pump is connected to SATA power, USB is going into one of the headers. I will try removing it and resetting it.

The Q-codes A2, A0 are perfectly fine! Those are you want to see all the time... 🙂

However, as nikosa43 said, 84C is way high for your CPU!!! The system may stall because of the high temps...

As a first step, you need to remove the block/pump combo from the CPU, clean both the block and the CPU, re-apply thermal paste and reseat the block... - wait, have you removed that plastic cover from the H100's block before you mounted it?

The thermal paste looks fairly spread, do I really need to go get new thermal paste?

Now, that you have removed the block, it's advisable to repaste it... but before that, you should clean both the CPU and the block with a clean paper towel with isopropyl alcohol on it...

Also, pay attention to how you're strengthening the screws! Do it in an X pattern... and be sure that the block actually touches the CPU...

I will see/ pray if best buy sells thermal paste as it is the only electronics store around. Any recommendations on brand or best way to apply it?

I just tried resetting it, did an X pattern again. Moved the 3 pin header to a different fan position on the Motherboard and hooked a new SATA cable into the CPU and set it up directly to the corsair and once again. The fans come on but the corsair logo on the CPU header does not come on. This is bothering me because it has come on before.

Thermal paste looks ok. Seems it is not a mounting problem. I am not an expert to Corsair cooler but I think the problem is to water recirculation. I would try to find a way to see if that pump is running. And Yes, always use new thermal paste after removing the cooler.
