MVE and other Z77 BIOS getting all BIOS goodies off Z87 BIOS

I'm not sure if this question was asked but is there any chance of software side of the upgraded bios being included in the one gen older - Z77 models?? Features like:

1. SSD Erase
2. New UEFI Look
3. Upgraded Daemon Tools (current ones are not Windows 8 compatible!!!!!)
4. Additionally, kaspersky inclusion would be nice as well...!!

Just my personal opinionated question!! But all based on what would be included in the new Z87 ROG product range. Come on ASUS, we stood by one whole gen and all Z77 owners are probably feeling withdrawn and distraught at the moment in lights of myriads of Z87 mobo launches!!! 😉

All I'm saying help us lift our morale....!!! 🙂

Well guys bad news, I recieved a response back from Asus (if you wanna call it that). Even though I was extremely clear and polite with the questions I asked, The person who replied did not understand at all what I was asking the first time around. As a matter of fact I'm not sure I understand a word of what he said. I read his response three times and still cant make sense of it. I suppose its too much to ask to recieve any of these bios advancements and software updates let alone just one or two of them for a chipset that is barely just one year old from being released to market. Not too mention they released Lucid logix mvp software over 7 months ago for example and it still has not been updated to work with secure boot function. Excuse me if I Sound a little salty I wasnt expecting a miracle just maybe a friendly (NO) In response. In english.

I feel for you mate!!! I actually replied back and this the 3rd iteration so far...lol!! And we are not asking for a major deal. Just a bunch cool features and the engineers already have the code, all it needs a bit of willingness to go beyond!!

least you can do is to get the Kaspersky 2013 update for Maximus V series. the only thing is that you need to chage the date to a few months back otherwise it won't install, after installed change the date back to current. it works fine for me on MVE under win8 x64 and it's free 🙂

The Kaspersky update isn't working when I try to install it. I was able to download the zip file fine. But when I try to install it, I get the message "Digital signature of installation files missing"

I may be out of line here, but I have not found any specific Z87 hardware feature to support SSD secure erase. It is purely a feature of the bios, and something that should have been available on the top of the line Z77 platforms. In addition, Z77 boards are not currently discontinued, and shant be for quite some time.

This is purely a corporate decision, to tell its loyal customers that if you want "secure erase" you have to move up to the Z87 platform. I think I'm done with Asus. After having a Maximus IV Extreme and currently a Maximus V Extreme, each needing several RMA's to fix several different failures, I don't have the confidence necessary to continue with this brand. Telling the top 1% that Asus no longer looks to offer further enhancements, unless you buy a Z87, is a mistake. Reminds me of when Microsoft came out with UEFI Fast boot for Windows 8, but you had to have a compatible UEFI bios on your video card. The Maximus V Extreme was Microsoft "Certified" for Windows 8, and promoted its fast boot feature prominently. To bad it didn't work unless you were only using the internal graphics from the Intel Sandy Bridge processor. Don't know about any of you other MVE owners, but if I'm buying the best motherboard out there, I'm probably NOT going to be utilizing just the embedded graphics.

As a company its time to look at all of the 1% ers out there. Whether it be from the LGA 1155, LGA 2011 and the LGA 1150 venues. These are all current skus, and at one time was the ONLY option.

Don't make us regret thinking that Asus is the best, only as long as they are promoting your board.

you can do SSD secure erase from linux bootable Parted Magic 6.7, that distro 6.7 works best, also for upgrading firmware of sandforce SSDs outside of Windows (especially if windows runs off ssd in raid0):

We wanted an easy to use pre-integrated solution like the bios secure erase function for Z77 boards as well.

I agree that adding secure erase to z77 boards would not be difficult at all. It's a real shame when companies make these kinds of decisions to try to force people to "upgrade" (inverted commas are because it's tough calling z77 to z87 an upgrade)
