MAXIMUS VII RANGER wont boot and no output from gpu or on board graphics Q code 55. I have G.Skills Ripjaws X F3-1400CL9D-8GBXL installed in A2 and B2 slots iv'e tried in A1 and B1 and same result ive also tried just 1 stick of ram in each slot in turn but to no avail and I've tried the mem OK test each time. This board and i5-4690k (devils canyon) are an upgrade from an AMD setup. I've read a couple of posts saying I don't need to re-install O/S and I don't know if its part of the problem but I think not due to the fact I cant even enter BIOS.
By the way OS Win7 x64 Ultimate sp1 and GPU Sapphire DUALX R9-270X 2Gb O/C.
Any help greatly appreciated

Hello

Q-Code 55 is a memory initialization issue. Remove the CPU and check the socket pins for any being bent using a strong light and magnifying lens. If all OK reinstall the CPU and heatsink properly tightening the heatsink. Clear the motherboard's UEFI and attempt to boot using one stick of memory installed in the first red slot from the CPU.

Also make sure that the memory modules are inserted fully into the slot on both sides. Some people don't push the module down on both sides - which results in issues..

Thanx Raja but the amount of times the memory has been installed and uninstalled. I've even tried my G.Skil Ripjaws X just to be sure. If its an incompatibility problem then I don't mind buying the correct memory, but I don't want to just go and get it if that's not the problem.

Thanx for the reply Praz but sorry to say no bent pins on cpu socket replaced cpu (cleaned off existing TIM and installed with new) tried the booting with 1 stick and even flashed the BIOS to update but still Q code 55 no memory detected. If I take RAM out and try to boot I get q code FE so its obviously detecting some kind of RAM feeling a bit *!"£$& off this is my first Intel setup and I know nothings failsafe. I've been going round in circles on the web with no outcome.

Board now boots with RAM in slots A2 and B2 and I can assure you there are no bent pins on cpu socket I've spent hours looking through my iphone 5s camera from every imaginable position.
As soon as a memory stick touches either A1 or B1 slots good old Q code 55 turns up hmmm I should've bought the sabertooth or even gone down the Gigabyte path !!!!!!!!
