I have had this problem for over a week now. When I shutdown Windows 8.1 after running for more than 20 minutes, the monitor light goes amber and the screen blank, but my computer is still running. I have to manually shutdown the computer. When I restart it, if I shutdown immediately, everything will turn off normally. But if it has been running for more than 20 minutes, it won't shutdown. Any thoughts on solutions would be appreciated.
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] Value Name: PowerdownAfterShutdown Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value) Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = power down)
Setting the value to 1 fixed the issue for me... (Changes to Registry at own risk, etc)...
