Maximus VII Hero SSD Install Problem

Ok installing my 6th HD, already gotta 250GB OS drive, 3TB platter deep storage, 2 SSDs, and a M2 SSD. Had to enable M2 mode for the M2 SSD. Which states:
PCIeX4_3 slot runs at X2 mode for M.2 connector support. PCIeX1_1~3 are disabled

The other 2 options disables my M2 slot, so if turned off then I lose my 1TB M2. Not good!

Gotta new Samsung EVO 1TB that is the normal SATA connector. But after connecting into my 6th SATA slot my drive isnt recognized at all. It took several tries just to get Windows to boot. It did once and seemed unstable and crashed. So for now, took it out and doing some digging on this.

So I guess my question is am I maxed out for SATA slots because I have M2 mode on? The MB spec has 8 SATA ports total. Worse case scenario I swap out my PNY 250GB SSD and put my new 1TB in there. But obviously prefer to add the 1TB while not losing a 250GB SSD.

Well today decided to try installing it to a different SATA port (back one slot) and had no problems with it at all. Installed, detected, and formatted with zero issues. Not really sure why my PC freaked out just because I skipped a SATA port. Done this before and know others that do this with no problems. Oh well, issue resolved.... life moves on! 🙂
