Maximus VII Hero shipping with which BIOS ? Support for i7 4790 ? (Haswell Refresh)

Hi,

I will be putting together my rig on Saturday. Do I need to flash the BIOS before I put in my i7 4790? Bought board on 5-26. Method of flashing BIOS with USB thumb drive? It says root of USB stick.

Also should I just install all the driver off of the included disc or download everything from the site.

Thanks,

It looks like the original bios (1401) supports the 4790, so no real need to update the bios prior to installation.

Always D/L the latest drivers from the ASUS support site, the disc drivers are usually out of date.
Intel i9 10850K@ 5.3GHz
ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E
Corsair H115i Pro XT
G.Skill TridentZ@ 3600MHz CL14 2x16GB
EVGA RTX 3090 Ti FWT3 Ultra

Storage: WD Blue SN550 2TB NVMe M.2
EVGA SuperNova 1200 P2
ASUS ROG Strix Helios GX601

Yes. Thank you for the reply. I discovered this later today. Should have checked more thoroughly on the support page. Just trying to get everything ready. Did download all the drivers and the BIOS and think I'm ready. Was EVGA board now will be ASUS. Expecting great things.

Yep 4790 will work fine on early UEFI builds. 0608 will go up next week for the newer DC and Pentium CPUs.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm getting my Maximus VII Hero Saturday. I'm running a i7 4790k (H100i GTX), Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3-1866 CL9, EVGA GeForce GTX 980 FTW on a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro. Should I update to the latest BIOS, if not the latest which one? Thanks!
