Maximus VII hero don't boot (CODE 00)

Hi

i just build my new rig, this is the config:

Intel i7 4790k
Asus Maximus VII Hero
Corsair h110i gt
G.skill 8gb 2133 cl9
Ssd Samsung evo 840
2TB WD
Msi gtx 980
Xfx 650w.

I plug all the connector, i check position of the cpu, of the ram, nothing,, when i press start the mobo stay Always at code 00, and don't do nothing, so i really don't know what can i do, the mobo is broken?

Hey Nick,

Have you tried re-seating your CPU? Such a common issue for newer boards, a simple re-seat and clearing the CMOS can fix the problem. Also I would recommend only trying 1 stick of RAM while testing and also try the 1 stick of RAM in each DIMM slot.

Try the above and let me know if it worked.

Code 00 is not a good sign and is a tough one to pin point, the manual states code 00 is not used. Code 00 can be caused by a few different things a faulty psu, a faulty motherboard or a dead cpu.

You could also have bent cpu socket pins and this is what I would like you to check next. Remove your cpu cooler and your cpu and inspect the cpu socket in good light with a magnifying glass. Look close and carefully and make sure ALL the pins are evenly spaced.

If you can post a picture of your cpu socket that would be great !

the my big fear is the cpu is dead,,,,i don't know but i have this feeling hahaha, so btw i will check and report, in the middle, i will rma the board, and the cpu , just to be safe, the psu is good becouse i test on another pc and work like a charm

All right yep to be on the safe side and save time rmaing both the cpu and motherboard is a good idea. Once you get your new cpu and motherboard please come back and let us know if you have a working pc.

just to let you know, if you do by chance have any bent cpu socket pins asus will not cover the warranty.
