Maximus VII Gene: 2-step boot, it's only mine?

Hi,
I'm 90% sure my new Maximus VII Gene has an hardware issue but I give it another try.
If you have one, maybe with a i7 4790K like me, does yours boot in a kind of 2-steps process?

- push the button
- fans start, light on the Corsair H100i cooler turn on for 1-2 seconds
- fans stop, light off for 1-2 seconds
- fans start again, light on the cooler turn on again and finally boot

I also did a short video of this 2-step boot process (don't pay attention to the sound, forgot TV in background): https://www.dropbox.com/s/gq4u23mcgp5x3yn/Video%2030-07-14%2020%2036%2055.mov

I'm almost sure it's an issue with the board (only the CPU is installed and I tried with 2 different but new PSU), but if you can confirm yours doesn't act like that (and the 2-step boot is not something Asus implemented without doing any advertisement about it) tomorrow mine go back for replacement.

Thanks a lot

This is normal from AC power cycle. The cycle is required for certain controller functions to work properly.

Ah, good to know (I had a "laptop-only" phase for the last years so I missed some changes).
So if it cycle for 3-4 times it's also normal maybe because one or more controller aren't responding to the first cycle properly?

If its that many times its usually because the memory training is failing and being re-tried until it works.

Thanks a lot Raja, you provided interesting information helping me getting closer to my issues.
