I read that the Haswell refresh will be available in Q2 of 2014, and will also be of socket 1150. I know Broadwell won't be backwards compatible with Z87 boards, but the Haswell refresh should be, correct?

No. Haswell Refresh will not be compatible with any of the current socket 1150 motherboards.
Haswell = compatible with 8-series chipsets.
Haswell Refresh + Broadwell = requires 9-series chipsets.
The release date for Broadwell desktop CPUs was pushed back to late 2014. In its place Intel will be launching Haswell Refresh in Q2 2014, and the 9-series chipsets along with it.

Here is what I read: "Both the current and Haswell refresh processors would be compatible with the Z87 and Z97 chipsets featured on the LGA 1150 socket so i don’t think if its a thing any one should worry about."
