Maximus VI Impact won't post

Hi guys, first post here.

I built a htpc back in early 2014 with:

Maximus VI Impact
i5 4670k
8 gb Ram
Samsung EVO 840 120 gb boot drive
2 Seagate 4 TB drives
Cooler Master Seidon CPU cooler
Corsair CX 750 watt power supply
GTX770
Win 8.1 x64

Now ever since I had the MB, every once and a while I would get random freezes where the integrated bluetooth would stop responding for about 30 seconds, then be fine. Sometimes also my wifi connection would be slow as hell, so I started using LAN but sometimes when my pc would boot it wouldn't see the connection, I had to unplug/replug the ethernet cord for the pc to recognize the connection again. Anyway I ignored these minor annoyances. Then I noticed also the bottom part of the debug leds in back wouldn't light anymore. Also ignored that. I figured hey as long as nothing critical starts....

Last week, my computer would post, show the ROG logo, do it's USB check, but then sit at a black screen for a good minute, then show the white cursor in the upper left hand corner of the screen flashing but it would loop there for a good 20 seconds then finally boot into windows. VERY STRANGE considering after the bios logo showed I would normally boot into windows in 5-8 seconds . It started doing this every time I turned on my PC. I ran a couple of checks on my ssd but everything seemed fine.

Yesterday I turned on my PC, Posted, went to boot into Windows then sat at a black screen for 20 minutes. I shut off the PC, restarted, now it doesn't even post with no beeps. No picture output at all and my cpu led is lit red. Q-Code 00.

Updated to the latest bios and also tried a clear CMOS, nothing. Took battery out and waited, re inserted, nothing.

Dismantled all components, sat motherboard on box with 1 stick of ram, cpu attached, hdmi running out of mb integrated video. Nothing. CPU is def getting juice when I attached the cpu power connector felt the top of the chip it started getting hot, I shut it off right away though.

Checked for bent pins, any type of damage, could not find jack on the board.

So after extensive googling it seems this is either the MB, or the CPU. I don't think it's the cpu...However, even if it WAS the CPU, I was under the impression that I would still at least get the ROG logo upon bootup no? The motherboard turns on it's just black. Any suggestions?

My first thought is the PSU...

Did you swap out the CX750 for another one that is verified to be in working order?

Well, I managed to get my hands on another Maximus VI Impact board. Same stuff. CPU led lit red, qcode 00. I'm starting to suspect it may be the CPU or the power supply.

Well the good news is that I have a Fluke Multimeter! So what exactly to do to test it? But I mean the cpu was getting hot when I turn the mb on wouldn't that rule out the CPU is not getting juice?

I don't have another PS to test. I suppose I could bring it down to one of the many PC repair shops to have them test it but at that point I would bring the CPU down as well to have them slap it in as well just to verify what is going on.

Very unlikely that it's a bad CPU, which would point to either the board or PSU.
This is why I always keep a spare PSU lying around.
Wouldn't hurt to test your CPU in another machine if you can.

Nono, it was my CPU. Talked to Intel last week, they overnighted me a new i54670k due to it still being under warranty and I'm typing to you on my now reassembled htpc.

I honestly don't know how my CPU was fried as even oc'ed....my temps were only at around 70 Celcius under full load but, who knows may be I got a dud.
