Maximus VI Impact code 00

Hello there guys, I am in some trouble and would appreciate some help or input

So I was almost done my build today and was doing the final assembly and went to test out all the components and my rig wouldn't start up.

All it does is tries to bootup and shuts down immediately and then loops.

The only indicators as to what's wrong are that the Q-LED flashes 00 right before shutting down and the VGA and DRAM LED flashes on for an instant when I boot.

I checked and reseated the ram since the DRAM LED was on but have no clue what the VGA LED indicates.

Prior to building I have tested all components and throughout the build I have tested them twice and everything was working about 3 days ago.

The motherboard seems to give a code of 00 which I looked up and it means "Not in use" which didn't quite make too much sense.

I looked around on the internet and found that it was a common enough issue. The answers I found were either your CPU is dead or PSU isn't hooked up correctly.

I went down to the nearest computer store and only hooked up the core components and tested all the core components.

The PSU is not the issue and since I custom made all my cables I tested each cable and they are ok as well. I tested the RAM and the CPU on a different rig and they all worked perfectly.

This only means 1 component is the issue and that is the motherboard itself.

So has anyone here have had any experiences similar to mine?

The entire rig is as follows

i7-4770k
Maximus VI Impact
R9 290X
Kingston HyperX 16GB RAM
2 x 120GB Kingston HyperX SSD
1TB WD Black HDD
550W XFX XTR

Hello Etaloche, Welcome to the ROG forum. The 00 error is either the mobo or cpu and since you tested the cpu in another pc and is ok, call asus tech support and they will have you set up an RMA.

try to take out snd put back in the cmos battery. also maybe try a clear rtc ram. if that dosent work maybe try a buis flash. if none of that works its something hardware. try taking out some mem sticks.

What is snd and rtc? How do I flash the bios when I can't boot?
I have tried different memory sticks already and no good 😞

CPU's are made from condensed smoke. Once you let the smoke out, they're fried.

Found the answer in another forum. Did not know that ROG connect doubled as BIOS flash.
Unfortunately the issue remains after flashing to latest BIOS version

You can remove the cpu and check the socket with a magnifying glass for any bent or misaligned pins. Make sure the cpu power plug is connected.

Right on NATE152! A rookie mistake that a lot of people make is making sure the CPU POWER plug is connected. No offense about the "rookie"!

No offence taken... But yes both the 24pin and 8pin connectors are plugged in. I custom made all cables and tested them with a psu tester and psu and cables are all working. I tested my psu with another motherboard at Canada computers and it worked fine. I filed a service ticket for RMA already but If I can find a solution that doesn't involve shipping it out it would be magnificent

I did as you said and no bent pin visible. The thing is it worked 3 days ago which was when I last tested the rig and it worked. I haven't touched the cpu at all since then so I don't think it's a bent pin
