Maximus VI Hero - Will not Post; Q-Code 99

Hello All,

Having a bit of an issue.

I recent built a new computer, and when I went to turn it on, it will not post. I get the 99 Q-code and nothing after that. I tried a BIOS flashback to the latest version, but still nothing. Also, when I have my HD in i get the A2 code.

I have tired the clear CMOS stems (battery and jumper) but nothing.

I double checked all the PSU cables and everything is plugged in.

This is a new MB, just got it last week.

Thank you in advance for your help.

There is nothing wrong.

Does your hard drive have a OS installed? I would guess no.

Please list all your hardware and include everything that you have connected to the motherboard and that includes the PC screen.

Ok,

So I noticed I had the Corsair Link USB cable plugged in, I unplugged that and I was able to get into BIOS.

No, I do not have any hard drives plugged in. I am still waiting for my SSD (I have the ROM drive and HDD, which was plugged in, and gave me the A2 code) to arrive. I just wanted to see if it posts.

Also, It may have been posting all along. I had an DVI to HDMI adapter for my monitor (could not find an HDMI cable at the time), but I found an HDMI cable, used that, and I was able to post (or see the post).

So I am not sure if it was the Corsair Link internal USB, or it was the monitor cable. As of now it went to BIOS. I did get the "The current BIOS setting do not fully the boot device," but I am guessing that is because I do not have any devices plugged in.

That is where I am at now.

🙂 Good to hear. It is always a bit of a shock when you have new kit and it does something you are not expecting.
