Hi,

Two weeks ago i bought my Hero board and i like it very much, but i have an issue with it. Sometimes when i install software, and i only get this when installing something (games, apps), i get a weird buzz in my speakers for a few seconds. The computer isn't hanging from what i can tell, but the buzzing is there. Like a bad interference. What could it be ?

I sorted it as I don't think Asus/realtek give a ****. Simply use the Razer surround software that is free, better sound and no more pops.

Isn't that specifically just for headphones though? Or am I looking at different software than what you're talking about?

I fixed the "pop" problem changing the driver.I'm using 6.0.1.6971 downloaded normally from asus site > mobo page> support.
Try all the drivers from the first one and see if some of them at least minimize the problem.
I said that somewhere else and I'm saying it again.
Still can't fix the problem with the freeze when installing.(Last problem I can't fix in this mobo)

Do any of you guys have a microphone connected to the on-board sound card?
I've had 2 Heros both with the same low microphone gain/pre-amp fault. I'm wondering what the odds are of getting a board without this fault.

Can you explain the steps to recreate these issues?

I hooked up the mic of an old 1 ear headset and recorded in audacity and speaking normal makes the microphone max out. One thing I noticed. if you have noise gate enabled, it will cause the mic to be very low.

No problems with a low mic level here, I just set max mic and max boost in windows recording devices. Leave the noise gate and noise reduction alone and my voice is plenty loud enough in Teamspeak. As long as you have a good mic there shouldn't be any need to select the noise reduction box.

I have this problem as well, what mic do you have and is it connected by USB or 3,5?

I'm using the mic from my qpad qh-90 headset which is connected by the 3,5. Maybe that's whats causing our problem.

My mic is part of my headset which are Roccat kaves and they connect via 3x 3.5mm for the audio,1x 3.5mm mic and a usb to power the inline control thingy.

Hello guys. I have the same problem with my asus maximus hero vi motherboard. I just figured out that this bug is associated with the network adaptor - when it connects to the internet. If the network adaptor is disabled - there's no freeze or another sound problem at all. If it is disabled from bios same - no errors. I think that a new driver for network adapter will solve this bug. Hope this it will help.

Although I have the same freeze problem when installing something... it's not a problem with the network adapter(I have the latest driver from asus.com). I had player active and keep turning on and off the adapter for a minute with no freeze on music. The process of installing will always cause a freeze nonetheless
