Maximus VI Hero Audio problems

Hi guys,
I bought a Maximus VI Hero few weeks ago, then I installed the drivers from Realtek (ver. 6.0.1.7023) found in the downloads on Asus website.
Now, i have the following two big problems:

- First, the audio level has increased too much! To be acceptable I must set it under 20/100 in Windows 8.1! It's impossible to set it higher if I want to preserve my ears lol

- Second, today I bought a real 5.1 headset with microphone (Roccat Kave 5.1), and I had a bad surprise when I connected it all into the rear panel: if I set preamplification to 10dB, my voice is too low to be heard, but if I set it to 20dB there comes a very annoying "external" noise. So, I tried to change the microphone jack, switching it from rear to front panel, and the problem of the voice disappeared, but there I can't use 5.1!

I hope you can help me to solve this very annoying problem, I need to know if it is a MoBo problem (Supreme FX having some troubles) or something else.

Thank you for the attention,

Hello there - I do not do much work with sound or sound issues so all I can offer you is to go have a look at the Realtek site and see if they have drivers that can fix your issue.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Hi Robylyon93
I have the same headset as you and had the same trouble with both my Crosshair V Formula and VI Hero. What I do though is leave all the mic settings alone in the Realtek driver software and just set your mic and mic boost to max in windows, Then just adjust the sensitivity down in Teamspeak or whatever program it is you use. I'm pretty sure it's due to the realtek drivers as when I used a soundcard with the same headset I had no issues at all.

So the only thing I can do is to wait for an update of the drivers, that's interesting.
Thank you guys for the aswers 🙂
Anyway I think that next time I will count to ten before buying any other Asus mobo.
I can't believe that one of the reasons why I bought this mobo is the one that doesn't do its job properly! 😞
