Maximus VI GENE Boot Problem

Eduardo_Bezerra

Hi,

I just bought a Maximus VI GENE and a Intel i7 4770K.

When I try to boot the motherboard it powers on for about 10 secs and then it powers off.

Please look at this video:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bx7PPmgykkoNZzh0d0tHNjNqUEE/edit?usp=sharing

I'm using the following parts:

- Corsair AX850 PSU
- GSKILL RipjawZ F3-1700CL11Q-16GBZL
- Intel water cooler

The display is connected via HDMI to a DELL monitor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Eduardo

What code are you getting on the diagnostic display on the motherboard?
Asus M6E | i7 4770K | 32GB Kingston HyperX RAM | 512GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD | GTX 780

The last 2 BIOS codes before the motherboard shuts down is 08 followed by 00.

Code 08 is "System Agent initialization after microcode loading" and 00 "Unused" according to the docs on my Maximus VI Extreme (I would imagine they should be the same for your board as well). The first thing I would recommend trying is

1. Clearing the CMOS
2. Go into BIOS (Del key) load the defaults (F5 key) and save

You don't understand. Did you watch the video?

The motherboard boots for about 10 secs and immediately shuts down, I can't even enter the BIOS.

I am on the mainland today. No access to your video site unfortunately. Hope your issue gets sorted though.

Hi Eduardo,

sorry if i ask a obvious question, but is the 8 pin EATX power plug connected to PSU?

i would try booting with only one memory module, in the first or third slot from the outside, after clearing CMOS with PSU disconnected from AC power plug.

After the first shut down, don't press again the Start button and wait about 30s to see if there is another booting atempt.

The first boot of my M6H took an eternity to finish.

Good luck.

Welcome to the ROG forums, Eduardo Bezerra.

I couldn't see clearly from the angle your video was taken. Please confirm that you have the 8 pin power connector properly connected into the corresponding 8 pin header on the top left of your motherboard.

Hi Chino,

Yes the 8 pin power connector was properly connected.

Today I think I found the problem: My Corsair AX850 PSU is defective.

I tried a Corsair AX750 PSU and everything went smooth.

Thanks everybody for the support.

Best regards,
Eduardo
