Maximus VI Formula won't detect new 4TB HDD?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure my HDD is dead?

I've got my new Seagate 4TB HDD (ST000DM000) all mounted and plugged in, but Windows won't boot up.

It's all connected correctly, I've checked using wires I know 100% work (the ones normally attached to my 😧 backup drive), and it's not even showing up in the BIOS.
The HDD definitely sounds like it's booting up, but as I said I can't find it anywhere in Windows OR the BIOS.

Is this a MoBo problem, or is the HDD just DOA and needs replacing?

Any ideas?

Currently running:
HDDs
1: Samsung SSD 840 Pro
2: Seagate 1TB
3: Seagate 4TB (the one not working)

MoBo: Maximus VI Formula
CPU: Intel I7 4770k
GPU: nVidia GTX 760

Welcome to the forum!

Why didn't you install Windows on your Samsung SSD instead of the HDD?

It is, but windows won't boot when I install this other HDD - at first I thought it might have been trying to boot from it, but it isn't even detecting it...

If you're sure you have it connected with a good sata cable and have power to it and it's not showing up in the bios, you can be sure it's dead.

You could try a different sata port if you haven't done that already.

You might also have it in an asmedia port. Have you installed the asmedia driver?
