what are the steps i need to take to install a 4790 on a VI formula motherboard for its first run? will it boot with the 4790 and allow me to update the bios or do i have to update the bios a different way?
ok thank you all. i havent actually received the cpu yet as newegg isnt going to ship until next week i guess. i just wanted to see if there was some special something i had to do. formula has been sitting around here for 3 months gathering dust.. waiting.. 🙂 found that video
got my 4790k in last night! and installed! if it wasn't for those videos, i might have been a bit lost. if you look up bios update on the asus website, it will tell you to hold the rog connect button w/ your thumb drive inserted until the button flashes. what it doesn't tell you is to wait until it stops flashing to remove it. had i not watched the video i might have thought the flashing button meant 'ok' but i remembered the video shows the bios taking like 30+ seconds to update instead of 3 seconds (to flashing button). anyway, all good! btw, coming from an i7-920 i didn't know rar files could unzip so fast! 😄
