Maximus VI Formula Q-Code 55

Core1024
Level 7
Hi Guys,

I'm trying to build a new pc, but am stuck when booting - I'm consistently getting Q-Code 55 (No Memory Installed). If I take the memory out then I get 53 (Memory Initialisation error).

I've tried the memory in my old PC and it appears to work fine, and I've tried the memory from my old PC in my new one and still get Q-Code 55.

System details:

  • Maxiums VI Formula MB
  • intel i7-4770K LGA1150 processor
  • 2 x Vengeance LP DDR3 16GB RAM (4 sticks of 8GB)
  • Corsair AX860 PSU
  • Corsair H80i water cooler
  • Samsung 840 EVO SSD
  • Pioneer BDR-208EBK optical drive
  • Corsair 750D case

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'm about to try removing the MB and see if I can get it to POST outside of the case, but otherwise I don't know what might work.

In case you're wondering, I haven't put a graphics card in yet (running HDMI from the MB to an LCD), and the keyboard and mouse are USB - I presume that make/model there are unimportant)

thanks,

William

Update:

tried POSTing with the board outside of the case - only the 24pin and the 8/4 pin power connected - still getting Q-Code 55

Hello Core1024, Welcome to the ROG forum. In your system details it looks like you purchased 2 separate ram kits. You can get lucky and get 2 kits to work together sometimes but it is best to buy 1 kit. This could be the problem, try booting with one stick of ram.

Thanks for the reply; I tried with both set, individually, and also with a single stick in each slot - always Q-Code 55

Please remove your CPU and inspect the socket pins, check for bent or misaligned pins.

Use your Intel default cooler for testing purposes as over tightening, or uneven tightening may cause this error.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Asus Geforce Gtx 780ti
Kingston V300 60GB 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive

Like HiVizMan said, take out your cpu and inspect the socket pins. It sounds like some pins are bend/broken.

First of all, I'm from Spain, so sorry if I don't use the correct terms or something like that.

I also have this problem, but just with A slots. When I was going to install the memory on A1 and B1 for using Dual Channel. I decided to try one by one slot and I saw the problem were A slots. Every time I install a memory on any A slot, even if there's also on B, the q-code is set on 55, not memory installed. I actualized the bios and the problem still remains... I also thought it was problem of the MB, so I changed it for new one, but it happens again...

These are the system specs:
Asus Maximus VI Formula
Intel Core i5-4670K
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC
2x4GB Kingston KHX1600C9D3B14G 1600 MHz
Corsair CX 750M

A few days ago I read something about this but with a Maximus V Formula and I think the problem wasn't solved. I can't find the post again.

I hope somebody can help me with the problem, thank you.
