Maximus VI Formula Graphics Issue

Hi,

Were you able to figure out what was wrong with your machine? I was having the same issues, the only thing is I have an ASUS Maximus VI Formula board (it also has the armor thing). In my case, I don't think the motherboard or the graphics card (Sapphire 7970) is the problem, because i tried putting the graphics card in another system and it works perfectly fine. I also tested the motherboard without a graphics card and with an nVidia graphics card and it works fine. It was an old nVidia card but it still works. i tried putting an older 4890 on it and it gave me the same problem. It will load up to the windows desktop screen and then it will just freeze. I tested my ram individually on different slots and they all check fine. I have an XFX 1250 PSU that I got not too long ago and have been using it in my previous build, so I don't think that the PSU is the problem. help? 😞

Could you please list which BIOS version you are using on your motherboard.

It does seem like your system does not like AMD graphic cards for some odd reason.

Hi,

It does seem that way. LOL.
Initially I was on the 0614, but I was having that issue so I updated it to the latest available bios 0804 and it still does the same thing.

And when you change PCIe lanes do you have the same behaviour?

Yes, I tried three PCIe slots. I also tried those slots with the nVidia card, and they worked fine.

RMA the motherboard and state that it has an issue with only AMD cards.

I'm having the same problem, but In my case I'm using a geForce 8400 GS, and it doesn't work so good, sometimes freeze my windows when I'm loading 3 instances of some game. I'm going to try to use the Mobo IntelGraphics 4400, so I hope the problem end with it.
In a not so far future I hope buy a new GTX to use the 100% of the mobo and forget all problems with GPUs.
