Maximus VI Formula - Faulty RAM?

Hi, I've just built a new system with the Formula and I have a problem with the RAM (G.Skill 2400Mhz Cl10 4x8GB)
I suspect that 2 of the 4 modules are faulty, but I'm not sure.

If I put all the modules in, the motherboard doesn't even boot to BIOS (just an endless black screen). The DRAM error led lights up and the display shows Error 55.

Testing the modules separately, I have discovered that using ANY slot on the motherboard, 2 modules work perfectly, 2 modules cause the DRAM error and black screen.

I don't think the Motherbord is the issue, since with the faulty sticks don't work on any slot and the sticks that work do so on any slot, even in dual channel in both A1-B1 and A2-B2.

To be precise, here's the result of my tests (I had not changed any setting in the BIOS before trying this)

slot A1 - RAM module 1 or 2
slot A2
slot B1
slot B2

Result = Mobo works fine

A1
A2 - RAM module 1 or 2
B1
B2

Result = Mobo works fine

A1
A2
B1 - RAM module 1 or 2
B2

Result = Mobo works fine

A1
A2
B1
B2 - RAM module 1 or 2

Result = Mobo works fine

A1
A2 -RAM module 1
B1
B2 - RAM module 2

Result = Mobo works fine

A1 - RAM module 1
A2
B1- RAM module 2
B2

Result = Mobo works fine

A1 - RAM module 3 or 4
A2
B1
B2

Result = Mobo doesn't work

Are module 3 and 4 damaged? I've already updated the BIOS to the latest version.

I did read it!

Power up your system and select your first boot deivce from the list either in BIOS or using the Boot manager which can be accessed during the POST process using the F8 key.

Once selected the Memtest86+ USB drive will auto load and the test will begin automaticall

I cannot get to the BIOS while one of the defective modules is installed! I can test the 2 modules that do work, but that is not the point.

You mean I should boot into BIOS using one of the working modules and once in Memtest I should swap the module and put the one that is supposedly faulty to check it? Can I really swap memory while the computer is powered on? O.O

Actually that is the point mate, you find one module that is working and confirm that all your slots are working. Process of elimination. You therefore have a base to work from. If you know one module is broken then please do RMA the broken kit. 🙂
