I was looking to pickup a maximus vi extreme today ...... i have 2 sets of corsair dominator platinum 1866 16gb(2x8gb)...so 4 8gb sticks....would i be able to use these in this board with no problems or reduction in speed or should i try to exchange them for another set? I have seen there has been some issues wih different types of ram..... i see the g skill ripjaws z 2133 8gbx4 set is compatible....would it be worth it to buy those instead?

Well, I've been using dominator modules (2133MHz) since day one to my system, and haven't had any problem so far.
So yes, I think you will be fine with your corsair set

Performance difference 1866 vs 2133, is only marginal I would say, depending on what application you use of course.

Sometimes you get a nice boost, sometimes as I said only a marginal difference.

I have two sets of 2x16gb from different makers and they work well together. Of course they run at the slower speed of each setting between the sets. I have to accept that and from that standpoint there is no 'reduction in speed'. Check the published timing numbers - usually 4 or 5 of them. If there are differences, the whole set will run at the slower, higher, setting.

In the case where the two sets are the same make, speed and timing, they should run fine at 1866. If 1866 is enough speed for what you are doing, there's no need to spend more. The way the Haswell memory controller (IMC) works, you may even be able to overclock them farther to 2133.

I know these opinions disagree with others, but they are based on my experience and what's running right now.
