Maximus Vi Extreme - OC Panel problem

Hi Guys,

I received my Maximus VI Extreme for 1 1/2 month ago.
Because my PC is completely watercooled i decided to connect the 9 PWM fans of my 3 external radiatiors to
the OC Panel fan pins. Now we come to the Problem.
I want to regulate the radiator fans via OC Panel, but when i try to use the silent/standard/Turbo mode, all fans
doesn't seem to slow down or speed up. All the time the fans run at full speed, it doesn't matter which of the 3 fan modes
i choose. So i tried to connect only 1 PWM fan or 1 normal 3 pin fan, but it's the same problem. I checked all cable connections, sata power and oc panel data cable is correctly plugged in.

I called ASUS and RMA'd the OC Panel, now yesterday i became a new OC Panel, but there is still the same problem.
I called ASUS again and they advised me to hard reset the mainboard and plug off all other usb and sata cables to
test it again. So i plugged all drives and usb devices out and reset the mainboard.

The PC boot up normal and the OC Panel show me some informations like CPU temperature, BCLK frequency, CPU core ratio, but i can't regulate the fans with the OC Panel.

I don't know what's the Problem.
Can anyone please help me, maybe i do something wrong.

hi i installed ROG Connect Plus but it only changes the OC but it does not control the fans at all !!! i uninstalled AI suite 3 which has fan-expert because its interference with my corsair link software. I was under the impression that the oc panel would be able to control my fans??? i have 2 fans connected to the cpu opt fan header and 3 fans to the normal fan headers on the MB hero ? all are 3 pin fans Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition and Silverstone 120mm Air Penetrator Fan AP121.
any one can help plz ?

I have a similar Noctua fan and experience the same "lack of control" from the OC Panel. I have the new Firmware already. Have you resolved the issue yet???

i also updated the firmware the only fan i got to do something was the fan on the cpu opt fan header it turned on but thats all it did no controll more like a on off button no speed function?

Just so nobody wastes their time on this one.OC Panel fan headers are non-controllable. They run at full-speed.

I requested control feature during development but it was dismissed for adding too much complexity to the FW/hardware - would need a revision and development time which often screws a lot of things, so it' cant be added and I doubt it will be in the future. The justification for the non-control was that the headers were added for Ln2 users who want to add some form of cooling/extraction fans for benching.

The fan control feature of the panel ties back to the MB headers only.

Too late, I just spent hours rerouting all my wires neatly to this thing and re-arranged my whole flock of fans on my radiators and now I need to redo them again without the oc panel in the picture. It's ok though, cleaning up the wires will be a lot easier this time with scissors, they always speed things up when organizing wires...

Okay. Thank you Raja. That's a good reply for me.
So if I connect the fans to the MB chassis fan 1-3 fan headers, they must be controllable by the OC Panel?
Or can i only control the speed of fans that are connectet to the MB CPU fan header by the OC Panel?

only via profiles I think - doing it via UEFI or using Fan Xpert might be a better idea..

I've got mine setup where it reads my Dominator RAM cooler. Since I watercool I just connected the RAM cooler (3-pin) to the CPU header on the MB and have it read that on the OC Panel. After reading this thread I tried changing the fan speeds on the OC Panel but it also stays at the same max speed, not that it bothers me to be honest as I'd have it this fast anyway.

I tried it too... I connected all fans to the CPU fan header. When i change the speed on the OC Panel, nothing happen.
Seems to be that's not configured correctly right now. Maybe it will be better/working with some new UEFI/OC Panel Firmware.

Hi

Just to confirm, I also have this issue. Also, when selecting the fan speeds through the OC Panel, I can only choose Turbo, Silent, Standard and not Full Speed.

Could this be down to number of Fan Pins as my case fans are all 3 Pin's compared to the CPU fan which is 4 and the cpu fan seems to follow what the OC Panel is set to.

Hi in order to get the fans working that have 3 pins plz go to bios and select advance speed control in the fan setup 🙂 also it seems you need AI suite installed in order to have any control at all from the OC panel 😞
