Maximus VI Extreme Losses Date/Time

Hi people, it's my first post on the ROG forum. I'm very glad to be NOW part of the ROG comunity.
Asus=the best...so ROG is the ultimate thang!

I have a Maximus VI Extreme.
And i have my rig connected to a really really bad-az.z UPS (server type)


Everytime i shut down my computer; really really down...i turn off the ups and unplug the ups from the power outlet
(cause even it's off; the ups consumes some electricity; cause the fan's of the UPS are still running)
And the ups, itself, it's loud as...foam. So i cannot leave it "on" on the night, otherwise i won't be able to sleep -.-
😞


But, when we turn everything "ON" again, obviously it has the last date&time i had, when i turned it off. (mismatch from the actual time)

The question here is: The charge of the integrated battery on the motherboard (the clock like battery) The round one, its like a CR200 whatever....Should last "a lot" (enough) to save my date & time?

Does any body understands this?
Anybody does the same thing i do? (shutting down your ups whenever you finish using the computer)

BTW: i don't loose my bios settings, though. The overclock stills there, the profiles they stay the same...everything is saved, but the date&time not.

I hope somebody understands this one.

Hi,
You can try this :
Download the last bios version on usb key.
Restart your computer and go to the bios.
Flash your motherbord by using ez flash.
When it s finish restart your computer go to the bios and turn off the computer. Don't turn off your psu. At this moment you must do a clear cmos by using the correct jumper on your mb and that for 10 secondes minimum.
Restart your computer, go to bios, set the corrects settings then press f10. Don't miss to set the correct time!!!!

Try if it's works!

Ok guys, thanks a lot for answering really fast.

I'm sorry for replying until now, i was really busy this week/weekend.

So the idea is to flash again the bios;
And make use of the "clear cmos" key
Reconfigure my settings (date & time)?

My currrent Bios is 0903 released @ 10/09/13

I figured out i had to update my bios, cause they were outdated....
Now i have the latest updates on all of my components.
I still have the same prawblem, so what should i do?
Still, do the Clear cmos?

Guys, so, first let me apologize cause i left this thread open for months, if you are fellow who encountered this problem....

1) Clear Csmos, remove battery also.
2) Update the exact date & time.
3) Update to the latest bios.
4) Leave at least one day plugged your rig to the power outlet (so it can charge)

Hi Marshall. Appreciate the post but could you be a little more explicit with your instructions?

e.g. In step 1 - how did you clear cmos? Did you do this using the button (I think with computer AND psu off right?)? Was it after you did this that you removed the battery? How long did you remove the battery for? DId you replace the battery with a new one?

Hey Corsair Riker, i'm sorry for the late reply.


Okey so what i did was...

Enter the Bios, on the main screen i pushed the clear Csmos button, the one that its on the back of your Motherboard.
Rebooted.
I shut it down.
Removed the psu cord.
Removed my Gpu, in order to access the watch battery on my motherboard.
Left it away for a couple of seconds. (10secs)
Re-install it again.
Plug in psu.
Start my computer.

Update to the latest BIOS
*Notice; i haven't updated YET the correct time / date*

Update latest BIOS
----------
Reboot.
And NOW update the correct date/time.

My praawblem seems to be solved now, it fixed by itself, using this method.
