Maximus V Gene UEFI booting?

Hello,

With Windows 8 out now I bought it and wanted to install it on my system but I wanted to install it in UEFI to have all the benefits like secure boot and stuff.

My specs:
ASUS Maximus V Gene (UEFI version 1309)
Intel Ivy Bridge i5 3570K
16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM (2*8GB)
Samsung 830 256GB SSD (latest firmware) (formatted as GPT)
MSI GTX 680 (reference)

So I made a USB with Windows 8 EFI (this works) (formatted as GPT). Then I set my CSM setting to disabled (this is needed to boot in UEFI). The first problem is that apparently my VGA card (GTX 680) is not supported in UEFI mode (???). So I pulled out the card and went on with the integrated HD4000. So now I can boot into my EFI Windows 8 USB installer. Everything seems fine.

The installer copy's everything but then on the first reboot I see the ROG logo a little while and after that a continuous loop of little flashes of my screen going on (which is a black screen anyway it seems) and dark again (same case with the LED's on my keyboard).

So now I'm not able to do anything. (I can restart and change the setting back to normal BIOS but I bought this UEFI board for a reason).

What can I do to fix this problem? Is it normal that a GTX 680 can't boot in UEFI?

I setup everthing like you said. I'm using a usb thumb drive too boot and I copied the window 8 iso to the usb using the windows 7 iso tool to do it.

Anyway, I can't boot in UEFI mode. Probable because of the .iso... i dont know. Where did you get your .iso?

My friends,

I installed my Windows 8 in UEFI, enabled Secure Boot... everything is working fine.

But there´s a very weird behavior. When I reboot the windows, windows boot manager runs and the primary partition can´t be recongnized. When I do a cold boot (Shutting down and powering on again), everything works perfectly. That´s not good and I already changed a lot of CSM support configs and tried to reset CMOS without success. What a hell is going on?!

UP! Still need help here.

I just want to nip any possible discussion into non-legal copies of Windows software in the bud here. I am sure that no ROG members even know what warez or pirated software is. So this can be ignored by all.

However there will be no discussion about any non-legit sourced software or OS. 😛
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

I didn't see anybody talking about non legal copies.

Anyway, I could setup EFI boot formatting USB thumb drive setting it to gpt and fat32, copying iso files to the drive and running bootsect to them.

if you have read the posts i have stated windows 8 enterprise evaluation which is a free download no serial key from msdn via regerstering your live email account for a period of 90 days trial after that the system reboots every hour ad a deterent , sorry for the spelling , i used daemon tools to open the iso and dos to make the fat 32 drive simply copy paste

i noticed that w8 needs a clean drive to work on and boot manager indicates you have previous windows on the drive

you can try to "refresh" windows but be warned this wipes out all installed drivers and a lot of progs that you have put in , which brings windows back to the original install , a pain in the ass after the w7 rog theme killed my w8 , but i reinstalled and running smooth again

I already did it. Cleaned, reinstalled from the scratch...

Yes. It's installed in the 4th partition.

It's a BIOS problem. I'm sure. I will open a message to asus support.
