Maximus V Gene - Fan Xpert2 profile setting error

I'm having a problem with my motherboard and the Fan Xpert2 software.

I have done a "fan auto tune" it created the 3 profiles for my system. However I cant use any of them, even the silent profile thinks my CPU-fan should run at 1600rpm, which it shouldn't. Idle 800-900 rpm is more then enough.

Anyways, I created my own profile, saved and applied. Thing is that the motherboard/software dosen't remember my profile choice after a reboot or a sleep/hibernate. This is very very annoying.

Can someone help me fix this issue?

Best regards

The best thing is to do your profile settings in BIOS or manage your fans via the BIOS.

Spend some time working with the manual open (I had to do that 🙂 and it is much more reliable than any software
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Hi, I have also recently completed my build and when I connected up my cpu fan to the cpu fan header I thought it would auto tune down to the lowest rpm, but even at cpu temp of 25 the bios only drops the fan rpm from 1900 to 1600 rpm which is still too fast. Surely it should go down to 600rpm as do the chassis fan headers? Even after using the most up to date Fan Xpert 2 software the cpu fan profile cannot be set to run the fan below 1600 rpm, which is really annoying. I now run the cpu fan from a chassis fan header which lowers the rpm to 600.

Does any one else have this problem??
Any help from an Asus employee would be good.

having the same problems as you Dajojk,

if you dont get any response from ASUS, then you may have to RMA your board back to them as it doesnt do what the manual says it can do.... and get one from another manufacturer..... shame, everything else about the board is great.......

Sounds like you're using three-wire fans for the CPU? Is that right? If so, I don't think the CPU headers work with a three-pin fan. Try a 4-pin PWM capable fan and you should be fine.

nope... i'm using 4 pin pwm noctua nf-f12 fans..... headers are limited in bios as to their minimum operating specs....... 60% at 40oC is the minimum you can set, except the CPU_FAN header which is 20% at 20oC.....

Wow, they still haven't posted the newer fan xpert version on the suite? I managed to get an updated version from the XtremeSystems forum. I'm not sure if it's not a stable / official release but it works for me, applies my custom settings after a reboot while the "latest" on the driver page doesn't do that. Shows my version as 1.00.15 or so.
