Maximus V Gene CPU Heatsink/Fan

Is there a good solid CPU heatsink/fan that is appropriate for overclocking that will actually fit on the Maximus V Gene motherboard? I have not having any problem with the height. I am mostly having problems with the length (the RAM modules and other heatsinks get in the way on either side).

Have you looked into the possibility of using low profile RAM modules I know alot do this on the gene then use what ever heatsink they want. I cant suggest one further than this mate as I use stock, water or xtreme cooling only.

A H80 or H100, depending on your case, would allow you to use any kind of memories... and would still cool very good...

I have already invested in some standard RAM. And I doubt you can overclock low profile RAM, right?

Preferably not liquid cooling.

I have Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo on mine, with two fans. I have all four memory slots filled up with Corsair Vengeance. It is tight, but it fits. If you are worried about it, you could always use the same heatsink with one fan in "pull" configuration.

I really wanted to get that one for the dual fans, but it was just too tall for my case.

I ended up getting the ZALMAN CNPS9500A. It will be a very tight fit, but I think it will work.

I also got Corsair Vengeance RAM. I am glad their is some hope for me in getting a decent heatsink to fit.

I had to resort to using a Hyper 212 Evo with the fan in a pull configuration because the drive cage in my case came right up against the heatsink. I thought I'd take a huge hit to cooling performance, but it doesn't seem to have had an enormous impact. CPU still runs cool unless I'm really pegging all the cores. Even then, doesn't get hot.

Helps that in my case there are 2 120mm fans in front pulling a ton of cool air in over the drives and then right over the heatsink. Also, the fan pulling air over the heatsink is blowing almost straight toward the rear exhaust vent - so the warmest air in the case blows immediately out the exit.

I wonder if, with ducting, pull configurations for CPU (and graphics card) heatsinks might make more sense than push when it comes to overall thermal management. I've also wondered if it would make more sense to have 4 12mm fans mounted in front pulling air into the case, and only vent the case thru ducts behind key heatsinks, for the CPU, chipset, graphics and power supply.

In case anyone is interested, the ZALMAN CNPS9500A is a perfect fit. It looks really awesome too.

I have really tall RAM too (Corsair Vengeance), so that is not a problem.

Greetings Gentlemen... am having the same prob here, am looking to rid myself of the stock heatsink, & I have 32gig of vengeance. I got ahold of a Zalman CNPS9500A it appears everything will fit fine but then damned ZM-CS5A mounting kits are harder & harder to find & I dont see a reason to pay such high prices for them. Why is it.. that Zalman can make such a wonderful thermal conductor but some how manages to discontinue the mounting kits for some of the most popular sockets? This has left me scratching my head a bit. I just wanted a good heatsink to hold me off till a rebuild my Danger Den water cooling rig.
