Maximus V Gene build problems

Hi everyone, I'm a first time builder and I'm was trying to post with this board along with a GTX 680, G.Skill Sniper 2133 RAMand an i5-3550K. When I turned it on, I saw the following error codes: 56, 4F, 67. Both the CPU and GPU fans begin to whir
simultaneously after the third error comes on and stays on. After a few seconds, the system restarts and the same errors
occur. I should also mention that the CPU and RAM Q-LEDs light up in that order. About the error codes: I know 4F and 67
refer to DXE initializations, but 56 is: Invalid CPU type or speed. However, my cpu is listed as compatible in my motherboards
manual. Can anyone offer a solution? I spent over $2000 on my build (thats with a case, monitor and headset, but still) and I don't want it to have to start RMAing stuff.

Well, the point is to use a RED slot... doesn't really matter which one of them you will start with... anyway, you will have to check everyone if your system boots up... 🙂 - I just thought to start at one end... 🙂

Well, it didn't work. Also, it appears that the board is flashing the Q-code "15" before "56". IDK if this is new or if I missed it before, but since its another initialization message, I don't think it should be too concerning. Do you have any other ideas?

There is a technical reason why we use the furtherest slot. But please feel comfortable to use which ever you wish.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

So, you did the CMOS clearing by removing all the powers and the battery for overnight, you're sure that your socket pins are all right and tried to boot with a single stick of memory... - well there is one more thing you could try...

Do you have the possibility to try an another memory kit? If that won't work either, I would go ahead and RMA the board...

Well, seeing as this is my frist build, no. But I have a friend with his own PC who's willing to lend me his RAM and take a look at the system. He'll be coming over tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes.

I'm just wondering, if this RAM switch doesn't work, which to you think is more likely to be the problem, the CPU or the Motherboard?

Well, it's hard to say... I would bet on the mobo... does your friend have a CPU too?

Yeah, but he won't let me touch it, and I can't use my CPU on his motherboard because its a sandy bridge. But I've been reading up on this and I think the mobo is the likely bet because I've heard of others having this problem.

Alright, my friends RAM didn't work. I'm about ready to RMA the board, unless anyone has a new idea.

I think, go ahead and RMA the board...
