Nick, thanks man, went ahead and ordered a twin-pak of the SP120 static Quiet Editions for the H100, still watching the video. It can't hurt anything to just give them a spin and try them out, certainly would look better than the Noctuas. I really didn't mind the color all that bad until this thread, opens your eyes to new things. I will read up on Asus FanExpert2 and see how to reach that minimal rotation for the 3 Corsair fans arriving Saturday. If they do work out acoustically and the thermals are good, wow nothing more Noctua in my pc, that's a wild thought.:)

After watching the video it's very clear that Tom, as much as I love him, still does not know about the PWM mode on the Noctuas. He still believes the only way to reduce the noise of the NF-F12s is with the supplied voltage reducer/in-line resistor. And that is how he is making his comparison to the Corsairs. Either he has not inquired or no one at Noctua has explained to him about the PWM rpm range of 1500 rpm to way down to 300rpm for a silent rig, and all rpms within that range. He is using an Asus motherboard, but not any of the 4-pin fan headers nor the Asus FanExpert2 software, so its really not a comparison at all.

I purchased 3 x SP120's for my build. I will start putting it together today and can hopefully get an idea for how these stack up against the Noctua's.

I personally don't use PWM. I don't like plugging the fans directly into the motherboard as it just adds too much clutter for me. Tom has said in the past that he doesn't use the fan headers for the same reason. The fan speed reducers are great for those of use who just refuse to use the headers.

Your rig is nice and clean. Very well done. I do think the red lights are a bit much. It drowns out the red cables and the red accents on the motherboard. I think going with white LED's would have been a better choice.

Thanks for the comment. Bought the red led's awhile back and never used them, figured I would see what it looked like. Using my phone to take the pictures so it's not the best, but red does take away the color inside. Might look at getting a multi light system later on

Hello all,

Just registered, I had to be a part of this - sorry!
I Have been Asus since the AMD K6 boards, ROG since Maximus Formula x38.
At this moment I'm looking to buy the Maximus V Formula to upgrade my rig, going to get this:

- Board Maximus V Formula
- Intel i5 3570K Ivy Bridge
- Samsung Green memory 16GB 30nm 1600 (4x4)
- SSD Plextor 128GB
- Cooler Phanteks PH-TC14PE

In my country it is impossible to get these kind of parts, so everything is going to be imported from the USA.
It costs about 30% more but so be it.

My question is about the cooler Phanteks PH-TC14PE, it comes in different colors, I would like it to match with the board.
Someone who has this board perhaps can compare, should I get the RED Phanteks or the ORANGE one?
This is the orange one:

and this is the red one:

I think the orange one is a better match, what do you guys think?
Thanks for helping!

Cheers.
