Wondering if future bios updates will allow the first and second video slots to be PLX equivalent? When using just a single card in either slot one OR slot two will disable/bypass the PLX chip. The Extreme is an overclockers board but some of us are using it in a silent rig, and for improved airflow and aesthetics the second slot offers another option for single card users. My guess is that it's near 55C.

Card installed slot one: PLX temps 29C to 39C (PLX disabled)

Card installed slot two: PLX temps 55C to 63C (PLX enabled)



Running fans at very low rpm 750 to 800. The CPU fan value of 2246 in the Screenshot is the rpm of the H100 pump, not a fan.

The CPU fan OPT value of 788rpm is actually 3 fans running at 788rpm in PWM mode off a single motherboard header, using one extension and two splitter cables.

I just noticed that AI Suite 2 doesn't indicate a temp for the M5F PLX. It's a different chip than the one on the M5E as it doesn't provide any additional PCIe lanes; it only manages traffic on the bus (from what I understand, I could be wrong though). The chip is warm to the touch, almost hot if I leave my finger on it, and that's not under load. I have a SB X-Fi installed on the third PCIe x1 slot right above it. It's the only expansion card I have installed as I'm currently running on the iGPU and doing some testing. My M5F is on my A77 mb tray outside of the case.

Not on the Formula. The temps are under Monitor>Temperatures but the PLX is not listed.

Hey, can one of you guys do me a HUGE favor: Could you please, pretty please, install the mini PCIe card if you have a MVF and post your results?

My card shows both BT and wi-fi connections as disabled in Network Connections, and I installed and reinstalled the drivers I can't remember how many times with the same results. Win7 sees the card as well AIDA 64, and there are no device conflicts in Device Manager. Apparently this is a known issue with the board but I'd like to see if anyone has been successful in getting the thing to work.

Have been unable to post for 3 days, guess that was the same for everyone (or for most since there's been a few posts coming along every now and then)? But still no info/acknowledgement about it? Was just about to ask moderators, when it suddenly worked again!

Great to hear that temps became normal Bruce! But still a bit bad if its the same for all MVF boards, and not just yours having some unique issues. Ill see what I'll end up doing if my big heat sink interferes with slot one. Might temporarily install stock cooler then to test it. But that's for later next week when I'm up and running (most stuff are waiting in a shop at another location where I'll go in a few days).

Has Sam tried to remove card in slot 1, or disable it (running SLI if I recall right)?
