Ok... And your temp readings are from the motherboard sensors (think you wrote so in an other post)?

Tried with an external temp probe (or even quickly touched it so you don't get burns)?

As you can see from my other threads, I've been a bit concerned about any issues running the GPU in second slot. Could it be possible that the chipset has to work harder because this config is something it was not designed to do (manual recommends single grapics in first slot)?

Otherwise this is a bit concerning indeed...

you could be right, I placed the graphics card in the 2nd slot to actually improve airflow to the heatsinks, the 1st and 2nd are both 16X slots, I will switch to position 1 and see if the temps come down. Sam is running two cards and his PLX is 43C. I am using the temperature monitor in the Asus Bios and the AI Suite II they both are reading the high PLX temps, and yes touching either the chipset heat sink or the PLX sink will burn the hands.

I could grill steaks on either heat sink...

Just so you know I am not joking, this was after running Crysis 2 for 10 mins and then coming back to post.

anyone want to give their opinions on supremeFX, or thunderFX? What about GameFirst? Are these features actually useful/noticable?

As a gamer would you prefer these features over the extra pcie slots provided by the extreme? I still haven't pulled the trigger on a board yet.

Or could it be a sign of a defective PSU when the alphanumeric display is not working?

With "safe mode" I just mean that the PSU makes a little noise like "klack" and it seems that it cuts the power connection to all the other components to prevent any damage while the LEDs of the mainboard are still pulsing. My fans are lighting up for 1/2 sec and then turned off while the PSU-Fan spins for 30 secs, gets slower and turns also off.

The PSU worked fine in my 'old' computer system with a 3570k and a 7970 Lightning two months ago.

Thanks for your help so far. I will send the M5F back on tomorrow. Its really frustrating after three months of waiting.

Hey all, been awhile. I have been testing this board and having fun with it. I just been playing TONS of games from Crysis 2 to BF3 to Arma 2 DayZ. I have ran into some problems I would like to share. I have noticed for some reason that VIRTU MVP does mess up games that are not on the their list of approved games. I was playing SWTOR and noticed A LOT of tearing and shaking within the game; same happened to a couple other games like Killing Floor, TF2, and Crysis 2 even though they are on the list (except for Killing Floor). I honestly ran BF3 with it on and then off and the FPS dropped 3-6, not enough to keep it on for me. I could see it better helping others with lower end GPUs.

Speaking of SWTOR, anyone that plays it I have noticed a HUGE problem with it. Usually after awhile of gameplay, if I log off or even quit the game freezes and the PC locks up; have to manually power off. I noticed the same thing happened in surround mode, the screens would actually turn off but the PC would be running. It is weird and ONLY with SWTOR so just a heads up because I cannot figure if it is the GPU, CPU, or MB. I didn't have this problem with the Gigabyte MB so I am confused on the issue. I have to now Alt+Tab and close the game that way.

I wanted to say I have been running into a problem with the board liking to auto set to 4.6GHz and causing me BSODs. I went into the bios and set it to 4.2GHz and went into AI Suite II and changed to 4.2GHz as well. I don't know why it did that but it caused me 7 BSODs because I couldn't figure out what was going on until I noticed the CPU temp going to 56C and the Bios was reading 4.6GHz. I then changed it back to 4.2GHz and my RAM to 1333, everything worked. I moved my RAM back to 1600, ran a Memtest86 through 2 passes, no errors. I ran a Prime95, again no problems.

Here is my DxDiag https://docs.google.com/document/d/12nWymGcifvNMJDPqRvZHVFmr_MRWiy-CawMBD-m0Jbs/edit I noticed nothing wrong but I blazed through it lol. Well other than those two hiccups I have had smooth sailing.

PS--If anyone has a dump check can you please PM me so I can provide you with my dmp files for you to decipher them, that would rock. Thank you.

I checked my PLX again it is running at 43C
