- which network card / ethernet adapter is on this board exactly? which driver should i use and where can i download this driver

- using what download link can i get the most current chipset driver

2 forums i am asking that question and every answere is a "STUPID ONE" ... sorry i have to say that

can't you just name what your ethernet adapter in the device manager is called and which driver version it shows ?

you could have said: i have the driver from the internet ... that would have been as usefull as the answere you have given ...

Intel_inf_9.3.1.1007.zip

which i got through a driver update software and at least for now some of the problems are gone ...

can anyone say something about that?

If you´d list what exactly your problems are, then perhaps someone had a fighting chance to give you some assistance. Imagine you were a doctor, and a patient says he has "lots of problems, help me", you´d probably want to know if it´s a sore knee or a bladder problem before you start handing out prescriptions.

And list all your hardware. Your current BIOS. Do you get error codes when booting? All those things may come into play.

And one version of a driver may work for some and not for others, even though they have the same setup.

Did you open the manual that came with the board? It says right there, which wifi-controller you got.

I´m not trying to be rude either, I´m trying to help you. I understand your frustration, but I think if you had tried with: "Thanks, 66, could you tell me the driver version you´re using?", you would already have had one of your questions answered... The fact that you can´t get your answers in other forums either could indicate, that you´re not asking the right questions.

Now, let´s take a deep breath, start over, list all your problems and specs, and let´s take it from there, shall we?!

2 x western digital caviar black each 2TB
4 x western digital caviar green 1 x 3TB, 3 x 2TB
windows 7 ultimate 64 bit english
external usb cd/dvd drive

i flashed the bios to 1309 after putting the hardware in the case, with nothing connected but the cpu and gpu and psu
i did a bios reset (using the button on the io panel and then made very few changes to the bios to fit my needs (like no logo, wait for key press to boot into windows, no igpu, ..., no overclocking

(bios is ahci of course) on the intel controller (there are from top to bottom 4 rows of sata ports on the mainboard with each row 2 on top of each other ... so 8 sata ports ... for the ssd i used the 2nd row from top, right below the black ones and i used the one farthest away from the mainboard, so i used the top one ...)

first windows installation was like connect only 1 ssd (on the sata port described above)
connect usb cd-rom drive, put windows 7 ultimate setup cd into it
turn on psu power
hit the start button on the case

so the whole boot scenario was at default settings and setting up windows i let everything mostly do windows 7 ... i didn't even pay attention about installing in normal mode or uefi mode ... i think default is normal mode so i guess it was a normal - non-uefi-mode installation

everything went fine, no problems, no crashes, no nothing

when windows was installed i used all the downloads from the asus website (in fact the rog website) and installed all the drivers so at the end i had nothing in the device manager that was not known and everything looked good to me ... even hat the intel sata controller and asmedia sata controller listed in the device manager

also installed the whole ai suite

then i started installing my software like thunderbird, firefox, office, monitoring tools like gpu-z, cpu-z rog, aida 64 and some other stuff

and then all of a sudden windows reboots, no bluescreen but with a surge protection message on the post screen
as all the hardware is brand new and as the psu should be a high quality top of the line one i thought that can't be ...

after some searching i did a memtest86+ with each stick alone in slot A2 ... i did one run on each stick in A2 ... and then i did one run with 2 sticks in A2 and B2 ... each run passed with no errors

after some searching on the internet someone pointed me to internal pll overvoltage and i disabled it ... i still had the asus surge protection in bios activated
and then the sudden reboots with no bluescreen were gone

instead now i get bluescreens (all kinds of) very random ... first i thought the sleep mode is causing trouble, so i disabled it ... but still bluescreens ...

it can't be a thermal problem, the case or better said the hardware in it is well cooled and the bluescreens come mostly when there's nothing going on ... kinda idle,

i did run the benchmarks for my system like pcmark and 3dmark and the small aida 64 benchmarks and everything turns out nice, i have good results, the temps go a bit high when doing some of them but that's because of the stock cooler, but nothing really scary ... and most important ... the system does not crash

i installed steam and gave rage and portal (1) a try and could play rage for 2 hours doing races on it where the hardware is put to the test, with all settings to maximum ... and no problems, no crashes

because the crashes did not stop when in windows doing almost nothing i re-installed, again non-uefi mode, when first time in windows i installed only the lan driver from the asus rog download and then let windows update the hell out of itself, then installed only what was not found and switched the standard sata controllers to intel and asmedia

still random crashes with bluescreens

so ... what should i do ?

Alright, mate, let´s have a look, hope I can contribute a little here, I´m still learning.

Could be the Vengeance memory being non-compatible with the board? But to have that confirmed we´d have to have one of the "black belts" in play. There have been issues reported with those RAMs and some ROG boards, but I can´t recall the specifics. Your mem-test shows otherwise, I know, but it´s just a hunch.

Are all screws of the cooler tightened equally? Do you have a very thin and evenly dispursed layer of cooling paste smeared on?

You did some stress testing of your cpu, try the OCCT stress test. I used to favour OCCT for stability test, it´s fairly quick and mostly gives you an error code that´ll translate into a specific problem (translations would best be found in the proper OCCT forum;))

I would stress test your psu as well, I´d use the OCCT program too. Easy to use, it´s free, and it provides some very good graphs, that´ll show if, say..., the 5V line is not producing 5, or very near 5, Volts. I once wasted a week of unsuccessfull overclocking because my psu was worn out (or crappy from the get go). One should think that under load, playing heavy games, that things would fail. But make sure to rule out the realtive unthinkable, when it´s easily done.

Thanks for a very thorough account of your spec.s, connections and issues.

Edit: You don´t have programs running on any harddrive connected to the Asmedia ports, do you?! Recommended for storage only.,

So boot of us , me and Chino was stupid, Chino reply to your question "where to download it" and I reply to your question " which driver to use"

so since I'm stupid I will not go in my network setting to give you the exact network adapter name and number, and I will not explain to you that you may have more problem with the one of the manufacturer than the one of Asus. , because I'm too stupid.
