Maximus V Formula Q55 Error

Picked up this rather nice Motherboard up from NewEgg Will-Call on Friday... but I have a rather persistent problem.

In short, whenever I have a RAM module in either slot A1 or A2, the board refuses to post with a 55 error on the q-block (The Dram led is also lit)

I have:

- reseated the processor multiple times
- reseated the memory multiple times.
- examined the processor socket - I observed NO burnt/bent pins.
- Raised the Dram voltage (a small amount - both kits are 1.5 volts 1.56V was the maximum I used)
- Lowering memory speed - down to the minimum
- I have tried two different g.skill kits (both which work fine in a MSI motherboard with a 1090T)
- F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
- F3-10666CL7Q-16GBXH

I am aware that neither of these are on the QVL.

However, if I put one or two sticks into B1/B2 the motherboard will post just fine. (Halting only on the lack of a boot disk)

The only hardware I am using at the moment is:

- Maximus V Formula
- i5 - 3570K (Stock heat sink atm, Have a noctua for the actual build)
- Memory

I had intended to add hardware one peice at a time, so I could catch errors as they popped up.

Am I looking at a RMA? (still have some time left...) Or is there something that I am missing?

Is there a chance the processor is bad as well? (Do I need to RMA it also?)

This is a bummer - the motherboard has worked flawlessly otherwise - but I would like to use dual channel mode!

check socket for misaligned pins

Thank you for suggesting that!

I thought I had examined the socket thoroughly - Not so.

I pulled up the Intel socket pin-out - and located where the memory pins were located...

...and found a mis-aligned pin. A little judicious straightening later... My MB now posts with a full 16GB (4GB x 4) of ram

Problem SOLVED!

i have the same problem.. what socket did you check from the dimm socket? or the mobo socket?

Check both, but especially the CPU socket.
