Maximus V Formula Post issue. HELP!

I seem to have an issue and i can't quite seem to figure out what it is. I just built my new system today and i was really happy when i had successfully installed windows and was just finishing up the driver install. On a driver restart i went to do whatever and when i came back my system would not post.

Basically, i hit the power button and all the LED lights for my components come on and all the fans ramp up but then it randomly shuts off before posting or displaying anything on the monitor. The LED debugger codes do not even show up before reseting itself and trying to post.

Any and all help would be much appreciated! 🙂

SPECS:
Intel 3770K
Maximus V Formula
16GB Corsair Vengeance (2x8Gb)
Corsair H100i
Asus Matrix Platinum 7970
Ax1200 PSU
1TB WD caviar Black
120Gb Vertex 4 SSD
Corsair 650D case

While searching for answers on the forum, i had got to page 7-8 and realized that i could not find anyone with the same issues.. which leads me to believe that either I'm an idiot and messed up on something, or either my MOBO or CPU may be dead.

OK SO, just went throughout the entire manual again and it appears that the CPU_LED indicator remains lit when i try to boot, any way to solve that? or is it done?

I don't think so, i had just finished the utilities drivers and the only other driver was the wifi Go driver. I was trying to get the main drivers online so i only downloaded and installed the wifi driver.

Have you verified if the H100i is working when you power on? Does the LED light up? Do the fans start to pin? And mostly, does the pump start to work?

I powered on and the lights blink fans ramp up and i assume the pump was working! When i went into the bios it said it was monitored at 27 ... I never checked it after that though so if the pump wasnt working that may have been an issue.. As far as i know it turns off before serious damage is caused?

Yes, you're right. It'll shutdown by itself. It was just a hunch really. Since you said that it shuts off before posting or showing anything on screen, I thought maybe the H100i had stopped working and thus causing the CPU to shut itself down.

Clear the CMOS and see if it'll post then.

Okay, i just did! Ill leave it over night, come back to it tomorrow. One of my buddies said that i should try taking the h100i out and just throwing the stock heatsink in there. Get it up and 100% running and then switch back to the h100i to OC and what not! Does that sound like it would work?

Clear the cmos by the switch and take the battery out the motherboard too...

You might want to connect a laptop to the rog port and moniter what state is shown on the RC Poster

Also try reseating the cpu and cooler

Check all connectors are in properly

It wont be heat such early on in its pre post state... what bios are you using?
Why would i ride the swing's when i've already been to DisneyLand..

It's hard to tell if it would work. But it would be a good start since it would tell us if the H100i is the problem. It's just strange that your problem suddenly arises after updating drivers. And your system was working fine before that.

Since you'll be swapping the H100i for the stock cooler, might as well remove the processor and look for bent pins in the socket. We've had a few threads on these boards with bent pins and the system not posting with a CPU LED error.

Keep the thread updated. I'll catch you tomorrow. 😉
