Hey guys im having a weird issue im hoping one of you might be able to help me solve.

I finished my entire system and booted it up after installing OS etc.. played a few games ran a few benchmarks and OCed it.. rinse and repeat.. This was all done having full usage of my 16gb of ram. i started running into a few weird boot issues error code posting 22 and a few others.. after restarting the system it would always just boot straight into the OS..

i decided to flash the lastest bios from the website hoping that would fix the issue.. well it fixed it but now i cant seem to get 8/16 gb to run.. in the bios it recognizes all four dimms and and their speeds however i cant get all 16 to be used.

i tried using different memory configurations and dimm configurations.. all of which work however not all 4 at the same time.

Im not sure what bios i was running prior.. if anyone can tell me how to find out ill be happy to post that infos.

current build:

3770k
crucial balistx 4x4 gigs. (supported memory)
2x GTX 670 FTW's
240gig SSD.
OCZ 1250 watt PSU.

any help is appreciated!

thanks

i do have other memory to try. i guess i can test dimm by dimm as well.

i have already tried dimm pairs. 1/3 and 2/4 each were working as intended. should i skip to checking my socket?

@marshal
does this issue generally mean board damage or a defective part? i would really hate to take appart my entire loop to send back the mobo..

@hivizman
is using the ez flash any different from using the asus update tool?

additional thoughts why would this problem occure after flashing a new bios? also why isnt my graphics card being detected?

EXflash in bios is the better method.

I did have this issue once myself, and I was obliged to return the CPU for another.

So your issue was with the cpu?

For me that time yes it was.

The RMA CPU worked perfectly from the first time I put it in the motherboard.

hey guys.. ok got some bad news..

i started some more testing.. here are the results

tested dimms 1 at a time. all dims working with single ram installed
tested dimm pairs.. 1/3 not working error code 55
tested dimm pairs.. 2/4 not working error code 55
tested dimm pairs.. 1/2 working only uses 1 of the two memory modules installed.
tested dimm pairs.. 3/4 working only uses 1 of the two memory modules installed.

Checked CPU mounting everythink looked ok..

powered back on .. no VGA support at all
rechecked CPU mounting.. again everything ok.

powered back on.. VGA support

retested dimms .. all results same as above

reupdated bios using EZ flash tool in bios - successful

retessted dimms.. all results same as above.

do you guys think this might be a motherboard issue? should i start an RMA?

Start the Motherboard RMA mate, you should not have this kind of hassle.

Just a note - you are always going to have hit and miss issues when combining memory kits. It's a risky thing to do from a plug-and-play perspective.

@raja yeah ive hat hits and misses before but never have i had it work one day then totally crap out on me the next.. let alone the issue escalating like this followed by the graphics issues... i can only hope its not the CPU..

i called up support and tehy gave me a ticket telling me i should get a confirmation e mail in about two hours.. that was about 8 hours ago.. i also got a confirmation number i but dont know where to go to type it in.. can anyone help me out with that or help me with an RMA here?

thanks for the help gents. i think its time to get a replacement board.

Helly everyone, im resurecting this thread.. I completed the motherboard RMA and installed the new mobo, after installing everything was working perfectly as intended.

After a few days i used the asus program to achieve a 4.6 ghz overclock.. everything ran stably until about two days ago my system began crashing. i also came back a few times to see my system powered off after knowing i left it on.

as of today ive now blue screened twice and have now noticed once again 2/4 dimms being used.. while all 4 are detected..

Additionally only one of my two graphics cards are being used.. (seccond card is not detected in bios)......

what do you guys think?

im currently using the latest bios. 1902

any suggestions?

I would suggest that you remove that ASUS programme completely. Maybe even reinstall your OS and do all OCing in the bios please.
