Maximus V Extreme - Can't access BIOS with PS2 keyboard.

Built my rig a few days a go and everything is going pretty mint. A few little niggles but hey when isn't there. What's really bugging me though is I cannot enter BIOS with my Filco Majestouch Ninja over PS2. The same keyboard works fine in USB but no luck over PS2. Not a big deal, more of an annoyance really. Is entering BIOS with a PS2 keyboard playing up for anyone else with a Maximus V Extreme? Maybe more importantly if it is working for you, what BIOS are you on?

Yes I've been having the same problem. Same board and same Keyboard actually although I think it's anything tied to the PS/2 port as I tried it with another mechanical keyboard and had the same issue.

Seems to happen when trying to hit the del key or any key for that matter prior to the BIOS splash screen. If you do it stops taking input from the PS/2 port until you unplug and plug it back in.

My problem now is I updated the BIOS and because of some of the newer setting I don't even get a splash screen or a chance to hit the DEL key. And if I do repeatedly hit the DEL key when powering on to get into the BIOS it just does what I mentioned above and stops taking input from the PS/2 port and continues on to Windows. I can't access the BIOS anymore...

Use the DEL key on the Numeric keypad instead

Using the DEL key on the numpad does the same thing. Can get into BIOS once every so often but then the keyboard stops registering input until you unplug and plug it back in.

I have not yet had this with the MVE board. I will pull out a couple more PS/2 keyboards - gaming ones - and see how it goes.

Didn't have any issues with PS2 keyboard on my m5e, although my keyboard is pretty simple 🙂

Same issue here, only after updated to 0704 BIOS

have read elsewhere PS2/USB adapters work but dont have one available here to test.... so for now its the most frustrating reaction time game ever, I succeed ~ 1/5 times

very annoying

otherwise excellent board so far

Does nobody check that at the quality checks before releasing a product?

Yes they do, but as has been stated it is physically impossible to test each and every possible combination of keyboard and mouse, and hard drive and ssd and usb device and PCIe device and monitor and vga cable and... You get the picture. 🙂
