Maximus IV Extreme - Freeze at Code 10 "PIE Core is started"

Hello All,

first - thanks for any help and sorry for my english.

I fight now for some time with the board.

First my Hardware:

Motherboard: Asus Maximus IV Extreme
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3570K (FC-LGA4, "Ivy Bridge")
P-Cooling: Enermax ETS-T40-TB
RAM: Corsair DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1866 Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9, Vengeance)
SSD: SSD 256GB 410/420 Agility4 SA3 OCZ (With the OS)
HDD: Western Digital WD10EZEX 1 TB (SATA 600, WD Blue)
Graphiccard: Zotac GeForce GTX 570 AMP! 1280MB GDDR5 (ZT-50202-10P)
Power: 600W Enermax

After I bought the new components (all except G-Card and Power) and build it in - the problems starts.

The first thing I always got a processor error (Beep-Code) and (Code 55), due the old bios.
After flashing the BIOS 2 via ROG-USB to the newest version, the Beep-Code was gone. Only Error 55 was still there.

After eternal back and forth, I couldnt find a fault.
Therefore, I have left the computer in the technical support of the reseller.

There they found 2 bent pins on the mainboard and a defective RAM.

They have aimed the Pins and replaced the RAM - and say it works.

-----------

Yesterday I started the Computer the first time after the technical support to install an OS.
The Computer startet with one beep and I go into the bios to set the boot priority.

That worked and I could install the OS (Windows 7 64 bit).
At the first restart at the installing, he have a problem, he shuts down, but cant come back.
He has repeatedly tried to start, goes out shortly and try again

I turned it off completly and start new. Now I was able to complete the installation.

----------------

When installing the drivers (motherboard), I install the AI Suite and he want to restart.
He goes to restart and told me he could not find any Datadrives, but 1 Second later he starts to Windows.
I shut him down, goes into the BIOS and take a look at the Settings, everything was fine.

I checked the SATA-Plug-Ins and swap and control them.

After this, i want to start again and now Freeze at Code 10 - nothing more.

---------------------

I then tried everything, clean out all the hardware again and built in.

Clear the CMOS via jumper and via Battery

Try to start it only with Processor - Freeze at Code 10

I tried to flash the bios again via the USB ROG, but this he does not longer.
Or it is not possible to re-flash the same version on it?
But Bios 1 I cant flash too.

I have the file on a stick, renamed it correctly, put it into the ROG Port, Press the Button for 5 Seconds an the ROG-Button starts to blink, but the BIOS LED was still not blinking.

--------------------------

So that was now my story.

Maybe someone of you have a idea for this.

I have no more idea, after 10 years the first problem i cant fix 😕

Welcome to the Republic of Gamers forums, Schinderhannes. See if you can post using the following method.

1. Disconnect everything from your motherboard. Take it out and put it on the box it came with.
2. Take out the battery.
3. Wait for 5 minutes.
4. Put the battery back into place.
5. Insert your CPU and the stock heatsink.
6. Insert one stick of RAM into the DIMM_A2 slot.
7. Connect only the power cables to your motherboard (24pin and 8 pin).
8. Power on the motherboard using the Start button.

Hello Cheno,

I have followed you Instruction, but no success.

Still Debug Code 10
And the CPU LED near the EATXPWR was on.

Any other idea?

Not looking good, mate.

Either CPU or motherboard is the culprit here. I'd place my bet on the motherboard since it had 2 bent pins. Did you examine the socket carefully to see if they were back in place. to be completely honest, I'd return it to the reseller.

Hmm ok 😕

All Pins looks okay and back in place.
I will drive again to the Reseller tomorrow.
And hope the best.

Thank you for your help.

If someone has one more idea...

I tried it with other RAMs. Unfortunately, the problem persists. I will go tomorrow to the reseller.

Thank you for your help.
