Maximus IV Extreme 3604 BIOS with latest IME embedded...

Well, hi everybody!

Please exuse me for my bad english. 😃 I'm from Russia: bears, vodka, balalaika... You know...=)))
Please, moderators, feel free to correct my post. 😉

Recently i bought a brand new (SIC!) M4E as "upgrade" from my Gigabyte Z68. The seller flashed 3603 BIOS to support my Ivy 3770K, & i suppose that he did it incorrectly...
I've met common broken IME bugs such as:
-system POSTs veeeeeeeeeeeeery long time & sometimes hangs with POST codes 92, 94, b6, b7... So you need to reboot it several times even for start windows...
-system can use only 1/2 of installed memory (2 of 4 slots) although all 4 visible in BIOS SPD ihfo...
-overclocking doesnt work. Completely.
-memory modules have worked only on nominal frequencies: 1333 & 1600 MHz...
-also i met problems with my GTX780Ti in PCI-E slot 1 (as described here)... But in every other slot my videocard was completely undetected...

Also system didnt start on 2-nd BIOS with code 00...

I tried to reflash BIOS to 3604 as described here, but it didnt upgrade the IME. =( I also tried to roll back to 3603 with no success... =(

So i remembered that upgrade to a new BIOS on my old Gigabyte MoBo duel BIOS also failed & i revived MoBo with INTEL flash toolpack. 😃 It took some time to find it again, & i found it here. 😃

So i reflashed one BIOS to 3604 using Intel FPT & it completely solved all problems, except videocard bugs in slot 1... 😃
IME part of 3604 BIOS was also flashed correctly, so after testing i made a flashback to a second BIOS.

But i've noticed that IME version in 3604 is 8.0.2.1410 - really old!


So i embedded a latest IME version 8.1.65.1586 into 3604 using Intel tools. 😃


Latest IME contains alot of bugfixes & improvements, supports some new CPUs...

System working perfect! 😃 Last thing i need to test is return GTX in 1 slot to P67 (now it's on NF200 in second slot)

I made a little archive containing 3604 BIOS with new IME already embedded & info files about this IME.

I think that ASUS EZ will not flash it correctly, so better use intel FPT. I also can made a boot image that will reflash BIOS automatically...

As far as it is UNOFFICIAL BIOS use it on your own risk. Please feel free to test it... 😃

I also have the maximus iv extreme and i just upgraded the me to the same version you have.

Do you still have the bug where the gpu doesn't work in the top slot? I wanted to know before i upgrade to a 3770k from my 2500k.

I still didnt test it... Although now i have GTX1060 =)))

Just wanted to report back that yes it does work in the top slot.

I even updated the me fw to the latest version from the winraid thread about me fws.

It now works flawlessly and perfectly and all the settings work including overclocking. Anyone who still uses this board needs to upgrade me fw.

Download .rom file from the web link (google drive) i posted above & use standatd ASUS procedure to update/reflash BIOS on your MoBo.

Have you tested it at all? Does everything work fine? I wonder if the RX 580 will start with the EFI-Compatible option?

And if I already have a version of BIOS 3604, will it allow me to reflash a modified 3604?
