Maximus Hero VII - Time problem \ Battery dead ?

Hi,

I purchased my Maximus Hero VII about 1 year and half ago. Is it possible that the battery is already dead ?
Yesterday i noticed Windows 8.1 was somehow changing the time every now and then, setting it back exactly 2 hours. (I didn't change anything, timezone is correct, tried to swap server time, still the same)
I tried to check the BIOS time and it was correct.

Today i checked the BIOS time as soon as i switched on my PC and it was the same as last night when i did shut it down.

Could be that the battery is somehow dead after only 1.5 year of life ?
Anything i could try before buy a new battery (what kind of battery) ?
(especially because the battery is placed under the video card, which i would prefer not touch until it works... )

BIOS Version : 0508 x64
Build Date : 5/16/2014
IROG1 Version : RGE1-Z97-0122
IROG3 Version : MKEY-z97-0128
ME Version : 9.11.1000

Thanks !

EDIT : I just noticed the clock is actually frozen in the BIOS - It probably is the same issue of the Hero VI ?
Also, the BIOS time seems to update automatically when i change the time inside windows (but of course freeze when i shutdown\reboot)

I did NOT perform any overclocking(other than set XMP) \ changed anything inside the BIOS, in the last year.
The problem appeared out of nowere.

Hello Nite01

Try updating the bios and see if that solves the time problem. I wouldn't think the battery is dead after only a year and a half.

Hi,

updating the Bios to the latest version fixed the problem, for now.

I will post again in case the problem arises again (hopefully this will be my last post in this thread) 😄

Are you disconnecting your pc from power when you shut it down? If so then it's probably a weak cmos battery and it's an easy swap.
