M6Hero: BIOS does not recognize IDE DVD ROM drive connected via Convertor [Solved]

Hello.

My Issue: Maximus VI Hero BIOS does not recognize IDE DVD ROM drive connected via IDE TO SATA
Convertor to one of the INTEL SATA 6 ports.

Further facts regarding my issue:

1. My IDE TO SATA Convertor works. I know that because, when the PC is powered on, there are two (2) red
lights which are lit on the top side of the device and one (1) green light which is lit on the underside of the
device.

2. I have used both the SATA cable that came with the IDE TO SATA Convertor Card as well as one of the
SATA cables provided by ASUS with my M6H to connect the card to the motherboard with the same results.

3. Boot time is substantially longer with the IDE TO SATA Convertor Card & DVD ROM drive connected to the
motherboard, however, Windows 7 cannot see the DVD ROM drive either.

4. BIOS reports that the SATA port in which the DVD ROM drive is plugged into via the IDE TO SATA Convertor
Card, is EMPTY.

5. DVD ROM drive appears to work properly. Tray opens and closes normally.

6. DVD ROM Drive appears to read properly DVD ROM disks inserted. (Green light on the device is lit and
then there are slight sounds associated with proper operation of the device as it reads the DVD ROM disk).

OS: Windows 7 Pro X64
Mobo: ASUS Maximus VI HERO
BIOS: 1603 8/15/2014
CPU: i7-4770K
RAM: 8 GB

Would appreciate any suggestions. I am at my wits end here.

Posting this for the benefit of other ppl who might run up to the same problem.

It appears that the reason my DVD ROM drive was not recognized by my M6H was the fact that:

1. Either the IDE TO SATA card was not seated properly.

2. Or that the DVD ROM power cable was not seated properly.

I solved the issue by reseating both the power cable on the DVD ROM drive as well as reseating the IDE TO SATA convertor card.

For the record, DVD ROM drive used is:

LG MODEL GDR-H30N (MANUFACTURED JULY 2007) DVD ROM DRIVE, a relic from my first Intel Core 2 Extreme
QX9650 on a Gigabyte P35 DS4 motherboard build back in March 2008.

https://www.lg.com/us/commercial/documents/gdr-h30n-spec-sheet.pdf

Now that the IDE TO SATA Convertor Card is seated properly, the boot time is back to normal, which is around 5 seconds
on my i7-4770K@4.42 GHz/Maximus VI Hero.

Hope this post helps people.

God bless.
