LAN on gene Z doesn't work - can't connect to internet

Retired
Not applicable
I am having some difficulties connecting to the LAN with the motherboard i just purchased.

I recieve a "a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken" message in Windows 7 Home premium. I verified that the connection works by using my laptop with the same router/cable.

Any ideas for what to do next?

Did you properly install the Intel drivers for the NIC card as well as the mobo chipset drivers after installing the OS? Is the NIC enabled in BIOS? Do you have it set to static or DHCP?

i have the same problem, i've checked Intel connection advanced properties in the speed conection section where it says the speed:
Duplex 10 Mbps
Duplex 10 Mbps Complete
Duplex 100 Mbps
Duplex 100 Mbps Complete
1 Gbps
i am a venezuelan user, my Internet Service Provider has 100Mbps, but when i put specify 100Mbps Complete the network adapter shut down and says "Disconnected, Network Cable is Unplugged",change the connections, cables, and plugged direct with the modem and nothing, the network icon flash very fast "connected to disconnected" but without internet service, however when i put on 10Mbps Complete the internet connection works...but just on that speed, i really need help, my previous mobo works on 100Mbps,

Have you checked to make sure you have the latest NIC driver? This type of link negotiation problem can be the sign of an outdated driver or damaged/inferior network cable.

Did you buy it from a shop where you can exchange it? It could be a problem with the board.

Bummer. Well, I would update to the latest BIOS (put it on a FAT32 flash drive, insert it before you boot and use easy flash in the BIOS). Also you may want to try it at a friend's house as maybe it just doesn't like your router for some reason.
