Just got an MVII Impact based system, trouble with POST

I am currently working with just an MVII Impact, single stick of compatible 8gb DDR3 and an intel i7 4790 3.6ghz (graphics cards, second ram and HDD not yet connected).

I am getting Q code 99, and no beep code. I have yet to pass a POST

I have built a couple PC in the past but I did not experience a single problem so my confidence may be based more on good luck than on experience 😄

Hello Teebsalot

Welcome to the ROG forum.

Code 99 is a gpu related error, connect your monitor with an hdmi cable to the on board graphics and see if code 99 disappears. If you are able to get display you should have code AE until you install your operating system.

PCI GPU is not connected. using integrated graphics over HDMI I get a blank black screen and q code 99

All right

With your pc powered down hold the clear cmos button on the back of your motherboard for 3 seconds then try booting, if you still get code 99 try another hdmi cable.

cmos button (on the IO panel) held for 3 seconds while powered off. powered up and got the q code 99 again, swapped hdmi cable, same issue.

Ok

Make sure you have power to your monitor and it is turned on, If you still have code 99 try updating the bios.

Here is a guide you can follow.

You're welcome

Ok now this I'm not 100% sure about so I went to the crucial site and brought up all the ssd's compatible with the maximus vii impact.

Is your drive listed here? Click on view more compatible upgrades.
